The mealy modifier on a chestnut base isn’t as dramatic as it is on darker colors, but can still be quite striking. Pangaré affects the soft spots of an animal, including belly, flank, elbow, muzzle and eye areas. It may affect different parts of the same animal in different degrees, while the lighter area expression varies from a tiny patch to the entire underside.
