Horses with Occluded Face Markings

A look at horses with occluded face markings around the world and on a variety of different breeds.

Occluding spots on a face marking is generally associated with pinto white patterns and given. Occluded markings are often seen on solid color animals, this is likely a minimal expression of a pinto gene. They can display as interrupted blaze and stripe markings or as strips of white in strange places on the face. They can also be called badger face when the white markings entirely (or almost) encircles the base color patch inside. One of the examples below has an occlusion that looks a little like a horse and we just love that.
