A look at horses with ermine face markings around the world and on a variety of different breeds.
Ermine spots are essentially a smaller type of belton or recoloring mark. These are pea-sized spots of the base color on pinto pattern white fields. This can be quite striking and spectacular on already interesting patterns and can even look a bit appaloosa (perhaps more so than bigger beltons). Recolored markings can show up all over an animal’s coat and are often found on the face and feet.
