A look at dun sandwich manes around the world and n a variety of different breeds.
One of the characteristics of a dun animal is a variety of primitive markings, including a sandwich mane (also called frosting). This striping in the mane comes from the dorsal stripe that runs along the back of every dun and the dark pigment can also extend down into the tail hairs. This is one of the more commonly found dun characteristics and is not always in conjunction with other primitive markings.
