A look at classic champagne horses around the world and on a variety of different breeds.
Often mistaken for a grullo and (incorrectly) called lilac dun by old timers, classic champagne is a black base diluted by the champagne gene. This has a rather dramatic effect on the coat, changing it to anything from golden yellow to light chocolate brown, while turning the mane, tail and (sometimes) points a deep brown color. There are no true black hairs on a classic.
