The flaxen modifier only has an affect on the mane and tail hairs of a chestnut base, bleaching them to a pale or white color. They have similar coloring and can easily be confused with a palomino, which comes from a single dose of the cream dilution gene. However they are different genetically and an interesting illustration of how different genetics can create similar colors.
