The fair was started in 1983 with the intention of helping educate the horse-owning public through events, and to raise funds which will benefit equines and their owners.
All of it made possible through the planning & dedication of the Iowa Horse Council.
The event has gotten larger every year, but the purpose remains the same, to educate, support and entertain the horse lovers of Iowa.
The fair is planned organized and produced almost entirely by volunteers who donate time to this worthy cause.

This is a one of a kind contest held in Red Bluff every year, the events test real life working situations of the vaquero (cowboy).
This is not a rodeo, the events are not timed, but rather judged by a panel of qualified and respected judges.
This fair was brought to my attention by a student Austin LaCroix who is a jr. finalist in the Bible Bee competition and is working with the Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue (who is hosting the event) to raise money.
They are selling & raffling donations, the proceeds of which will go to benefit the rescue and to help him get to Washington D.C. for the national Bible Bee competition.
All pretty good causes and the fair offers great information and educational events for horse lovers of all ages. They are accepting donations for the cause, whether it is used tack, artwork, books or dollars themselves.
