If it’s in print, on cable or on the big screen and it has anything to do with horses, chances are Mara has watched/read it and written a lengthly review about it. Her articles are well thought out and should I find a title I want to read I’ll definitely look up her review before I open the cover.

This blog is one of those ‘guilty reads’ she posts some atrocious images, has opinionated views & I love it that she shares them. Beyond just ugly to look at, much of the equipment she posts is of poor quality or downright abusive. Snide name aside, the articles on her blog are surprisingly thoughtful in their critiques (& her scary pink saddles of the week segment is priceless).

Riding AsideSomething very different today, the horse blogger of the week is Julie Size who is also the regional editor for Saddle and Bridle magazine. You can find more of her stuff on her blog Riding Aside (& don’t forget to grab her RSS feed while you are there).

There are very few blogs out there about riding aside so in a way Julie’s sets the standard. Her enthusiasm for (and complete immersion in) the discipline makes her posts colorful & they provide a glimpse into a horse industry virtually unknown to many of us. This is one dedicated blogger, Julie also maintains several blogs beyond her sidesaddle adventures.
