Turanian Horse

Intro

Also called the Tushetian, Touran and Turan, the Turanian Horse is a handsome saddle horse with a vert distinct desert lineage.

Origins

Related to the Yabou, which is also a descendant of Turkoman animals. Over the years, this breed has benefited from an infusion of some of the great horse breeds of the region. This includes a variety of Akhal Teke, Arabian, Karabakh, Karachai, Kabarda and Rahvan.

Today admission to the studbook requires lineage of types specific to several neighboring countries in the region. Essentially most of the foundation breeds can be registered as a Turanian, providing they possess specific breeding, performance abilities and characteristics. Meant to be a riding horse, breeding objectives are not for beauty, rather they are bred for performance, character and ride ability.
