Intro
Like many country bred types, the Syrian Arabian is not a pure bred Arabian, but rather a mix of different genetics with Arabian characteristics.
Origins
Arabian horse breeding is taken very seriously in the countries which produce them. The pure strains are meticulously managed and even one breeding to an impure stallion can ruin a purebred mare and her offspring for the rest of her life. While there are purebred animals in Syria it stands to reason that there are also plenty of animals that possess the characteristics without the bloodlines necessary to call them pure.
There is very little information about this breed, but they are listed separately from the Arabian in the DAD-IS. Presumably that is to distinguish animals that aren’t considered of ‘pure’ lineage.
