Slovakian Warmblood Horse

Intro

Also called Slovak or Slovensky Teplokrevnik, Slovakian Warmbloods are very similar to Czech Warmbloods. Like most sport breeds, they are bred and registered based on temperament, athletic ability and performance rather than specific bloodlines.

Origins

A studbook was established in 1920 for breeding a sport type horse, likely for military use. Later in 1961 breeding direction turned specifically toward producing animals for competitive equestrian sports.

Their herd consists of various half bred mares and Oldenburg, Holstein, Westphalia and Trakehner stallions. There are both light and massive types within the breed, with an emphasis on producing the massive type.
