Origins
The Piquira Pony is a relatively recent pony breed from Brazil, they were created by crossing local Crioulo with small pony breeds (mostly Shetland).
From the start breeding has been based on two basic characteristics, size & gait, with a variety of pony breeds being used for specific characteristics.

Head is well proportioned & expressive with a straight profile

Back is short, straight & muscular
Legs are sturdy with strong joints
