Garron Horse

Intro

Not considered an official breed, the Garron Horse is a strain of Highland Pony bred on the mainland, they tend to be heavier than their island counterparts.

Origins

The Garron was generally the product of Highland Pony crossed with some form of draft animal (most likely Percheron). Making them larger, more robust and better suited to agricultural needs on the mainland. The modern strains are closer genetically than they were originally. These days they are more a product of horse-lovers, than farmers.
