East Anatolian Horse

Intro

Also called Kurdi, the Dogu Anadolu or East Anatolian is only found in the mountainous parts of eastern Turkey. Called the Kurdi for their association with Kurdish people of eastern Turkey, Iraq and Syria.

Origins

There is not much information about their history, but the East Anatolian is likely a strain of Native Anadolu which has seen infusions of Arabian over the years, making them hardy, but also quite beautiful.

While a robust type, their breeding is not consistent and the DAD-IS lists them as extinct. However it’s likely there are pockets of them still being bred in mountainous areas.
