The horse is and has always been an integral part of the Mongolian lifestyle and the children are said to be born on horseback.

Equines are used for transportation, as pack animals, for milk, for food and for entertainment. Horses play a huge part in shaping their culture and are valued and respected.

The Mongolian horse is said to be very similar in form and function to the animals that carried Genghis Khan.

Animals That Look Like Horses – Moose

MooseThe Alces alces or the moose is probably the species that looks closest to the horse of all others.

What Are They?

Moose are the largest of the deer family and their name comes from the Algonquian Easter Abnaki name moz which loosely translated means “twig eater”.

Where Are They?

In North America moose are found in most of Canada, western Alaska, New England, Rocky Mountains, and parts of Michigan, Minnesota, Utah and Colorado.

In Europe they are found in Norway, Sweden, Estonia, Finland, the Baltic States, Russia and parts of Poland and Belarus.

A foaling attendant is generally a seasonal and temporary job which can be found in almost every size of breeding facility. They generally answer to a breeding manager who oversees large facilities, but can also work closely with broodmare managers.

Understanding Mares

This is a position which benefits from a firm knowledge of the equine animal & the birthing process, working well in a teamwork environment and a preference for working at night.

The ability to remain calm and focused, solid knowledge of horse anatomy and behavior and strength of body are key requirements for a successful foaling attendant.
