Like warmbloods in most countries a wide variety of breeds & bloodlines are accepted under the American Warmblood registry, as long as they are of sport horse/ warmblood type and meet physical requirements.
The end goal being the continued breeding of sport horses with superior athleticism, endurance and personality.
Many Different Looks
Due to their specific type of acceptance within the registry, there are a number of different influences within the breed. Crossing between different sport breeds is even encouraged if the results enhance the desired traits of each parent. However the registry maintains strict requirements for breeding stock through inspections & performance criteria.
A Melting Pot
Influenced largely by European warmbloods, Thoroughbred, Arabian and even draft blood, these animals are used within a number of athletic equestrian sports, from eventing to sport driving.
