Intro
Also called the Trottatore Italiano, the Italian Trotter is mainly used for trotting, but is versatile enough to excel in other equestrian sports as well. They are a result of an intense process of cross breeding.
Origins
The breed originates during the 19th century when trotting races came into popularity worldwide. The breeds used were English Thoroughbreds, American Trotters as well as Russian & Norman trotters. The resulting animals were strong and balanced and are considered among the best trotters in the world.
