Sgt. Reckless

Click to see VideoFirst of all, I disagree with the use of horses in the military, the equine animal doesn’t need to be involved in fighting our battles. However, that doesn’t mean I can’t be proud of a 14.1 hand mare who showed an amazing amount of courage in the face of adversity.

About Reckless

Reckless was a Mongolian mare who was purchased at the Soeul Race Track in Korea. She was a pack horse, carrying ammunition to the front lines during the Korean War & she clearly took the job seriously. So seriously in fact, that she inspired the troops & was promoted to Staff Sergeant in 1959. In 1968 when she died, she was buried with full military honors. Here is a short video about this brave little mare.
