Recently, Przewalski’s horses were released inside the protected Alto Tajo National Park in Spain’s Iberian Highlands.
This is part of a larger rewilding effort in Spain and throughout Europe. The small herd was introduced to the park hoping their natural grazing will enhance biodiversity and help reduce wildfire risk. This historic release within a designated protected area aims to revive ecological processes that have been lost and support broader conservation goals in one of Europe’s most rugged landscapes.
