Oh, Grok 2

We admittedly use AI to help us with images. Of course the real deal is always best, but it’s not always available and having access to images of ‘whatever we need’ is sort of too tempting to pass up.

Left Unfinished?

Recently we’ve been doing a series of AI art, featuring women in traditional dress and their horses from every country. They are absolutely stunning and it’s fun to see how the AI tries to squeeze all of the culture from each place into one image. Unfortunately, they gave Grok an update and it changed everything. While things are (sort of) more realistic, they are also, well…uglier. Not to mention more prone to strangeness (see above).

Pretty Ladies?

Our objection is that we weren’t done making the pretty ladies of the world. Except maybe we are stuck with what we already have. The new girls just don’t look like any fun. Compare the images below which use the exact same prompt: ‘Beautiful traditional woman with a horse in America’. On the left, before the update. On the right, after. Which one do you like better?

3D Horror Show

We have also been making the cutest 3D characters for each country and sadly that may be done. Compare the images below, the first one from before the update with this prompt ‘Cute 3d character of a traditional American girl with a horse, in the background America’. The second one uses the same prompt, just now…um.

What to Do

Our dilemma is this, publish what we’ve got already from countries worldwide and exclude the countries that didn’t make it before Grok’s ugly deadline? Continue to create meh examples and publish them all together? Hopefully Grok will get updated back to making pretty things (or give us access to previous models) and we won’t have to worry about it. We do have a folder full of funny (and some creepy) AI mistakes to share, stay tuned.
