ebonyRecently I was contacted by a horse owner who has an unfortunate situation and needs to find a good home for his Friesian gelding. He is offering Ebony free to a good home with the assurance the animal will be well cared for.

Meet Ebony

Ebony is a loyal horse, willing, placid and cheerful. He is people oriented, highly intelligent and possesses an uncanny ability to retain knowledge. he can be ridden both Western and English disciplines.

A Little About The Animal

Some of the basics you’ll want to know…

  • Up to date with vet and farrier checks
  • Energetic & fast learning
  • Gets along well with other horses

A Little About His Action

A Friesian gelding, ebony is a nice example of his breed from what I can tell.

Here is a new one or at least for me Friesian Mare scam under Jeff H. Gardner, aka Marion Gardner, aka Jeffrey Gardner, the email is jeffnmarion@yahoo.com

the horse is a 5year old friesian mare MARLEY, posted on Horsetopia in Texas and Alaska and on a UK horse site.

same deal…send money via western union destination CAMEROON

I tried to post this last night but it is not here yet, this almost happened to me yesterday. very emotional day!
He operates under the email of JEFFNMARION@YAHOO.COM.
He calls himself Jeff Gardner aka Jeffrey H. Gardner and wife Marion.
He is selling a Friesian mare named Marley. She is on 2 postings on Horsetopia and a UK horse site, always under the name of Marley with a pedigree link. The usual described above, a sad story that gets your heart and then your logic leaves and you’re sucked in!
The animal transportation sites he uses are PET TRANSA and American Horse Transportation with a Western Union shipment fee to CAMAROON.

    ughhh
    BEWARE!

Being an avid friesian lover myself, I told my husband of my deepest desire to own one. I told him how expensive they were and promptly went to horsetopia.com to prove it. Low and behold, my dreams were about to come true!!!! At least 15 ads for horses under $3,000!!! After 10 professing how glad they were to have found a buyer like myself, and wanting to SHIP the horse to me right away, I began to get a queasy feeling in my stomache. When new ads began to appear with the same pics, or same rider, in different locations across the US I almost threw up. I cut all ties with the sellers right away, but my broken heart took a while to heal. If you want a reputable horse and breeder try FHANA.com. All sellers are members in good standing with the registry.

I understand completely. and these people are very very good at what they do. But there is a real black Friesian Mare for sale, she is 12 years old and I think the owners are negotiable on her price. I was going to purchase her for $8000.00 but then I couldn’t purchase her after all. she is here in New Mexico but will be shipped back to Pennsylvania to her owners. The trainer does not have enough time for her. She does some dressage but not good enough for competition unless you wanted to work with her, she does trail rides. She is beautiful. email me and I will give you the trainers phone number. ulishakya@yahoo.com

I believe this is some sort of scam as well. In the uncle henrys classifieds a “friesian mare” was listed twice, seemingly two different horses. One for sale in Augusta, Maine, and one in Belgrade, Maine. One being $600 and the other $900. I replied to both ads and got a response from someone named “Alex Andrews”. First of all the email he sent was worded funny/improper english. He said the $600 was for shipping her. I responded back with more questions and recieved a second email in which none of my questions were answered. It seemed like a generic email that was sent just because i had replied. I decided not to reply again after reading the posts on here. My suspicions were confirmed when i got a response from the other friesian mare for adoption from a different guy “Jeremy Gomaz” but with the exact same email/text. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS SEE THE HORSE IN PERSON BEFORE BUYING AND ALWAYS WAIT UNTIL THE HORSE IS IN YOUR POSSESSION BEFORE PAYING FOR IT.

I believe this is a scam also. two ads were posted on uncle henrys classifieds describing a friesian mare for adoption. they were seemingly two different ads with different pictures and different prices and different locations in Maine. I responded to both. I got an email back from the first horse from a guy named “Alex Andrews” who said that he got a job as an auditor and was moving around a lot. He said he was currently in Seattle WA. He said the $600 was for shipping costs. The whole email itself was worded funny and used really noticible improper english. I replied anyway asking more questions. The reply i got didn’t answer any of my quesions and seemed like a generic email that he sent just because i had replied. I decided not to reply again after reading all the posts here. My suspicions were confirmed when i got the EXACT same email from the other ad from a different guy named “Jeremy Gomaz”. The horse’s name was Dela. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS SEE THE HORSE IN PERSON BEFORE BUYING AND NEVER HAND OVER MONEY UNTIL THE HORSE IS IN YOUR POSSESSION.

To find a great horse that will be gentle with my kids is fantastic. It is very mutual 🙂
I can promise you he will get a great deal of love and attention from all of us as we are very much animal lovers.
I will keep you informed and you are welcome to contact me any time via cell or email to ask as well. There is never a problem with that. You can consider him just visiting with us if you’d like and you are simply checking on him periodically. Sometimes mentally that helps the owner.

If he is a horse that would be a good match for our family, we would be glad to sign an agreement stating we would not sell him and if for any unforeseeable reason had to give him up would give him back first. That often helps in a situation like this and may be something you would want to consider for whomever takes Daisy to ensure he goes to the right home

I almost fell for this too! This was for a “family gypsy vanner gelding.” I had a funny feeling after the 2nd email in increasingly broken English.
    Here is the ad: http://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-387475
Here is the initial response I got from “Pinkerton Helen:”
    Hello
Thanks for the inquiry. Got your mail in regards to the Gypsy Vanner gelding horse up for sale, this is to let you know that the horse is still available. He is called Sampson, Please let me tell you some details about Sampson, he lives with me under a shed of a mix yard behind my home .he was Born on May 1, 2007. Sampson has been worked with from birth and has wonderful manners, ground, stable, and saddle. He has been trail-ridden extensively, and crosses water, Covered bridges, rides alone or with others… Sampson was trained to drive by me when he was just 2 year old. He is 15.1HH; he is very calm and adores playing with kids, adults, and other house hold pets. He loves taking rides at least thrice a week, he loves people and enjoys being groomed and bathed. He does everything you asked of him. We are presently here in Utah for a 9months church project and we just rented a home here at 955 W Genesee Ave Apt M,Salt Lake City, UT 84104.We have plans on staying here for sometime. You are more than welcome to visit us at any moment. We are a very Welcoming family. I am giving the horse up for adoption because my 18yrs old daughter (Jane) who was taking care of him and make me breed him from when he was two months old, passed away Months ago through a car accident when she was on her way back from her piano classes and I’m really tired of staying around with Sampson. I thought having Sampson always around me will replace the place of my daughter but it does not seem so any more and right now, I’m willing to give him to anyone that wishes to own a beautiful gypsy vanner horse like him. Moreover the occupying nature of my work does not permit me to keep Sampson and I will like to start a new life without horses in my life again. Giving Sampson out to another home will be a way of wiping Jane’s memories from my head which is making me so disturbed each time I think of her. To adopt Sampson, I will like to know this from you.
Have you had a horse before?
Will you be willing to send me some regular pictures of Sampson so we can see his progress?
How soon will you want to have him transported to you if you find difficulties to come for the pickup?
Have you own a horse before???
Have you any plans of owning him or to resell him to someone???
Where do you live that is your full names, state, city, postal code,
    home address and Phone numbers?
As for your further training of Sampson, I will also be sending you some basic guidelines to you via email, so that you follow as soon as he arrive you. If you have any more questions to ask, just let me know. I will also like to know when you will like to have him transported to you or you will come for his pick up. Attached to this mail are the pictures of the Sampson. Do have a nice day and get back to me at your Convenience. Stay blessed like I said if I have to deliver him, he will be safe as he will come along with people who will take great care of him as she gets to your Home, he will just be so comfortable. This is a difficult decision for me giving out Sampson to another home and I have thought it over for three weeks now and finally decided to sell him to another home moreover each time I try to give Sampson out, I feel so bad and hurt due to my daughter’s death but i know it’s the best to do now. Sorry if this bothers you but I most tell you that I’m in tears already writing this mail. I will like to leave now, just get back to me. I had made arrangements in respect to Sampson’s delivery and so you need not be bothered about how to receive him. I will be expecting reading from you soon. Thanks
    Best regards
    Pinkerton Helen

Here`s one for you. The email of the people is on the post and FYI there is no such place as California City, Ca.Also, if someone can tell me what the hell he is talking about in the first email…
Nice getting back to us. I hope you will love the pictures. I
relocated to California City,CA because my wife had a serious car
accident and at the moment she is on comma. At the moment there is no
one to take good care of Tresh. You can come over and trail him or i
can send him over to you and all you need to do is to pay for his
transportation to your location. After you have trail him and he is
okay, then you can now pay for his asking price. I want to let you
know that you will pay the money directly to the agency that will
deliver Tresh to you. Please for you contact number so that it can
ease our communication since i have very little time right now.
Hope to read from you as soon as possible so that i can now know my next move.
    Regards,
    Wayne

I’m pretty sure we’re in the process of exchanging e-mails with this person, and his neice was in a “horrendous accident” and the horse reminds him of her.

There is another scam under the e-mail lebrontheodore@yahoo.com the horse is KOKO and they are asking $650. to pay for shipping, the friesian horse is a 7 yr old gelding. When I wouldn’t agree to pay the shipping up front and asked for papers they were a joke. I was then told to forget about the horse since I didn’t trust the person giving the horse. I was given false address etc. I found koko for sale in four states with almost the same add all on horse classified adds. I wish these people could be caught.

This scam is still going on. From what i’ve read on this page, it’s been going on for YEARS! I ALMOST fell for it, but the person i was talking to via e-mail got a bit pissy with me when i siad i would hire my own shipping company and wasn’t going to send them any money for their shipping company. I later found that this same horse has been advertised all over the world! Man, am i glad i didn’t fall for this. And the last few e-mails i got from them sounded like hillbilly or children talking. Words were mispelled and the way they were talking was very strange. That’s kind of what made me start thinking something was wierd.

I avoided that scam last night. Note is to be made that it was very elaborate; the ad initially looked legit – it had lots of information about the horse – too good to be true, several pictures and videos.

Here’s what got my attention: First, the seller is kindda pushy. She also has a very sad story (widow left hearing impaired after an accident – her husband died and she was left with his horse to care for). Then, it got worse with the second email: she said Jantsje was located in NC while the ad was from downtown Toronto and then, drum roll, the signature was not from Renee Shelton, but someone by the name of Sabina in Scotland. In any case, although I did give out some details about my personal life, thank God I kept the information to a minimum (aka, nothing very useful) BUYERS BEWARE!

Here are the seller’s emails below:

    Subject: FRIESIAN GELDING

    Hi ,
I saw your inquiry regarding my Friesian gelding (Jantsje ) and I just want to tell you that he is still available , but before I continue , there is something about me that I’m going to tell you right now . I lost my husband three months ago and I became so traumatized due to the love I have for him such that I had an accident which affected my hearing organs and led me into suffering from hearing impaired . For that reason I can only communicate with people via emails and writing . I hope it won’t be a problem communicating with me this way ?
Jantsje is 9 years old , 16.0hh in height and 1100pounds in weight . He is regular on his vet and his shots are up to date . He has all his paper work done . The reason for the low price is because I just wanted to give him out to someone who can give him much love , care and attention since I can not really care for him . Jantsje has been trained for trail riding , show , jumping , dressage and is undergoing his 2nd dressage level . He has been under saddle for 2 years . He has also been ridden western and English . He has a gentle personality and will do well with kids and other house pets . He is good for beginner and intermediate riders . He is very friendly and playful to them . He is DNA tested , can take voice command and he does not easily become spook and is broke to ride , even a 7 year old child can handle him . He is a good listener to his rider and love to be taken out for a ride . He is very sound and ok in health , no vices and he has never been ill nor injured . He has never been affected by any disease due to the fact that his vaccines and deworming are given regularly . If your looking for a dressage , show or trail gelding , it doesn’t get any better than this . Jantsje is very much dressage , jumping , trail and show type , an eager student and very willing to work hard for his rider and also willing to learn . I don’t say these things lightly as they are not easy things to do but Jantsje is really that special . Movement is lovely and draws attention where ever he goes . In the ring he is steady and dependable . He enjoys a trail ride in company and alone . In the barn he is sweet as can be . Loves to have his ears rubbed and really loves her peppermints!! He is very well put together and has an uncommonly pretty head for a Friesian . I knew the moment I saw Jantsje move he was special . What I didn’t realize is how special ! I have been involved in horses for several years and I know just how hard it is to find a friesian gelding with Jantsje ‘s talent for dressage , jumping and trail riding . I would love to see him go to a permanent dressage , jumping and trail riding home where he will soar up the levels with his special person . I also feel that Jantsje is totally capable of getting his Sport predicate . No regret to anyone who is going to have Jantsje . In fact , he is going to make a perfect family member . I will like to ask you some few questions before deciding if your home will be good for my horse .

    1) Why are you interested in Jantsje when there other friesians for sale ?
    2) How old are you ?
    3) Are you married ?
    4) Do you have kids ?
    5) Have you ever had a horse before ?
    6) Do you have other pets ?
    7) Do you promise to take proper care of Jantsje ?
    8) Will you provide me with updated pictures of Jantsje when you have him ?
    9) Can you send me some pictures of you and your family ?
    10) Do you have people who will take care of Jantsje when you are out ?
    11) How soon do you want to adopt Jantsje ?
    12) where precisely are you located ?
    13) Are you a male or female ?

Please don’t be offended that I am asking too much questions or think that I’m trying to intrude your privacy . The reason is because I want to be sure that I am giving Jantsje to a caring and loving home .I will be waiting to hear from you soon .
I have just attached some pictures of Jantsje and Below is the link of his video . You should click on the link to watch the video or you copy the link and paste into your browser

I will be waiting to hear from you soon . Have a good day and God bless you,

    Hello XXXX,
How was your night? I hope you slept well and had sweet dreams too? Thanks for the email . I’m really going through so much pain because I loved my husband so much and I knew he was God sent . I also want to tell you that Jantsje is such a nice horse and he is very calm and has a gentle personality and like I told you , he has never been ill nor injured an he is very sound and healthy so you are going to be very happy when you buy him because he gets along easily with everyone he meets including strangers . The first time you write him , you are going to fit with him and both of you are going to get along immediately . He is very much lovely and friendly to other horses so he is going be happy with any other horses around him . The reason I’m selling him is because my late husband was the one taking care of him and since he is dead , there is nobody to take care of him anymore and I just want to give him out to someone who will give him much love , care and attention . I am not really interested in the money, all I care for is the well being of Jantsje and I want to give him out very cheap to a caring and loving home . I am really impressed with your mails and the answers to my questions . This shows that you are a horse lover and you are going to take very good care of Jantsje and give him the love of his life so I will really recommend that you be the new owner of Jantsje.
You said that you live in XXXXX and that seems far from me since I am presently in NC, USA and I don’t really know how you shall have Jantsje since XXXXX is a little bit far from NC, USA . I was so traumatized that even till now I have never stopped thinking of my husband and I have been having memories of him because I love him so much and my doctor told me that I need to move to somewhere where I can stay there and I will try to get his memories off my mind.He said that if I continue to stay around , I will be thinking about my husband always which can cause more harm on my health so I decided to move to NC, USA and Jantsje is here with me . That could not be any problem . If you are really interested in Jantsje and prefer that I get him transported and delivered to your home in XXXXX , then it is up to you to decide and let me know . I like Jantsje too and I want the best for him so I will get a safe transportation and delivery of Jantsje to your home . Jantsje will be coming with the bit , saddle pad , halter , bridle , winter blanket and dressage saddle so you won’t need to go and buy any of them. I am giving him to you at the price of $3500 including the transportation and also with the accessories like the bit, halter , saddle pad , bridle , winter blanket and 2 saddles . All you will need to do to have Jantsje transported to your home is to send your full names , full home address , phone numbers , city and zip code and I will take him to the agency and then register him there and they are going to call you and inform you about the transportation. So you are only going to pay $3500 for Jantsje including the transportation and the accessories . The transportation fee is $1500 so you are going to pay $1500 for the transportation and when Jantsje has been transported to you , then you can keep and test ride him for a period of 1 month before you can pay the balance of $2000 to me .You will be paying the money to the agency since they are the people to bring Jantsje to your home.If you are ok with this then I will be waiting for you to send your full names , phone number and full home address including your city and zip code and then I will take Jantsje to the agency and register him there and they will call you and tell you how you are going to make the payment and they will also tell you the delivery time of Jantsje to your home. If you will prefer that I have Jantsje transported to you , I will first of all send you a transfer of ownership certificate to you after you have sent your full names and home address to me. The transfer of ownership certificate is showing that you are now the new owner of Jantsje . I will also send to you a purchase contract for Jantsje . I will be waiting for your response so that I can make arrangement to have him transported and delivered to your home .
I will be waiting to read from you soon. Take care, have a good evening and God bless you.

Best regards an many greetings from Scotland, Sabina .

yes Koko the 7 year old gelding has appeared in willard new mexico and in mexico, maine. It is a very weird scam, which i do not fully understand, but i did respond as i am looking for a friesian horse. I was very suspicious this morning trying to find out a bit more about the seller, and then discovered the Koko ad with a different picture in Mexico maine. I will be sure to include more details. Please be careful, this horse is listed on Horseville (May 6), and i am not sure how to contact them to report this.

I think I have fallen for two of these ads. Koko was supposedly in Arvada Colorado, but the emails were from New York and I also found Koko on a Tennessee website. The other horse is a Gypsy Vanner named Condor who was supposedly in Fort Logan, Colorado. Like others I was really excited about these horses but became more and more skeptical.

I too fell for this. This time the Fresnian is named KOKO. 1000.00, a sob story about being disabled (husband too). The ad showed the horse close to me in FL, then when I responded, the horse is in Little Rock and will be shipped to me. I should pay the shipping company…right at the farm right?
The name for the contact is Linda Rose at lindar622@gmail.com.

I got a funny feeling too…and that is what saved us a thousand dollars. Who wouldn’t want this horse?

I too was all excited about acquiring a beautiful 5 yr old Friesian horse. I am still dealing with this person who lost their partner (most recent email calls her wife) and can’t keep the horse past this Saturday due to she has already sold her home. She doesn’t know anything about horses other than she bought this horse, Montana, for her beloved wife to keep her busy while she traveled all over the US and globe for work.
I am telling her that I can come look at the horse, so I’m awaiting an address. I will let you know what happens

    We were in need of a new horse for our facility and saw a posting for this same horse, different name (Maxim), but when we tried to call the number they messaged us back saying for us to email them at: Raymond Cox ;

we found it strange that they said they were local to us in the listing but then stated that they were in Maryland when emailed. So we decided to look into them, thank you so much for having this information on here. It let us know that it was a scam before things could progress.

You can see how bad the english is – shortly after receiving the email, a series of texts followed – some included pics of a gorgeous Friesian horse. The scam was that the horse was free – but I couldn’t see it because they had moved from washington state to Kentucky – however they would give me the horse but I had to pay for the shipping. They said they were going to use “Uship” – which I have used in the past so I wasn’t sure how they were working that angle. The email was from a “Solange Manthins” but the name in the ad was a Morianna Almanza. There were also two additional ads for the same horse under different names, but the same phone number and the owner was listed as “spencer”. I suspected – first based on the horrible english – that it was a scam but kept them talking to see what the scam was. I confronted them finally and they accused me of being a scammer 🙂 and told me to leave them alone 🙂 Anyway, the same ad is placed in every state. So everyone looking to find a Friesian that is affordable (like myself) – BEWARE
