Friesian Horse Scam

Heads Up Buyers – The person who placed the ad is a proven scammer & similar ads have been found for the same animal under different names. The ad I’ve left up for reference & discussion because the scam ads tend use the same descriptions & photos. The people who asked me to place this ad are in no way affiliated with The Equinest, I’ve removed any contact info for them & urge everyone to read the comments for more information.

If you are interested in adopting an animal for minimal cost, why not check out a rescue or two?

ebonyRecently I was contacted by a horse owner who has an unfortunate situation and needs to find a good home for his Friesian gelding. He is offering Ebony free to a good home with the assurance the animal will be well cared for.

I don’t live in Texas but in Missouri. I have a quarter horse gelding, Larado. He is 12 yrs old. I don’t ride him much but my husband does. I am more into grooming, feeding, and just spending time with him. I really thought I wanted to ride again, hadn’t done it since I was a kid, and got my first horse a few years ago. Shadow was the worst looking one at the sale barn and when the guy at the barn barked out that the slaughter truck was on its way to pick her up I loaded her up and off we went. Big mistake. I knew nothing about horses, let alone a 6 year old horse that had never been handled. But we eventually found our way together and while she refused to let me ride her, with the exception of the 2 second ride I got when I was stupid enough to climb on her, she did eventually let me lead, bathe, groom and cuddle (cuddle I did with caution)her. She taught me a lot about the nature of horses. I do still ride at times and Shadow moved on with a guy that broke her, but I would like to have another horse and Larado needs a pasture mate. Don’t know if someone of my ability, or inability I guess, would be considered but I would appreciate it if you gave it some thought. Thanks.

    Hi B. Hill,

I appreciate your vigilance so did some research, but I still can’t see what anyone would have to gain from posting an ad for a horse.

There are other ads for Ebony around the horse web, but it looks to me like they are just using every resource they can to find a home for their animal.

Hopefully everyone will use their common sense and take the same precautions they would take when posting or answering any type of classified ad online.

    PLEASE use caution.

I do not believe this is a legitimate ad. If you express interest in the horse you will be contacted by someone else and asked for contact information so they can bill you shipping charges.

    Hi B. Hill,

Thanks again for this information. Instead of pulling the ad, I opted to add a warning at the top of the post. I’m hoping that leaving it up and clearly stating the warning I am making the situation known.

If anyone has more information I hope they will speak up too.

I was the first to respond to this ad and I have saved all correspondance with “Michael” who offered the horse to me. First he informed me the horse was located in another state, not Texas. Next he told me I would be responsible for shipping fees and that I would pay the shipper for the transfer of the horse’s registration (makes no sense) and for the cost of shipping. Next he sent me a link to a corporate pet transport service which seemed to specialize in dogs and cats rather than horses. When I told him I would pick up the horse myself and asked for a location, the man seems to have discontinued communications. What would a scammer have to gain in this situation? Bogus fees for transfering a horses registration ($1,500) in this case and shipping fees. While I would like to believe better of Michael, it became very clear to me that this is a scam. Of course, I would like very much for him to prove me wrong. In the meantime, I have several really nice mares to legitimately place with someone who is capable of providing them a quality home. If interested, email me at DominionRacing@live.com. Thank You, Devorah

I had the same experience. The name of the person was Beltline Torres. They told me the horse was in Colorado, then changed the horse location to Florida. They mixed up the name of the horse. First, the horse’s name was Shaun, then the horse’s name was Miki.

The scam was that there was the courier fee ($749) for the transporation. I didn not give them any personal information, but it would have been easy to, if I hadn’t had experience using the internet.

I really did want the horse! I was willing to pay for it. I just can’t afford a real Friesian. The good news is that I have started looking for a cross Friesian, because of the ad and correspondence.

Thanx for posting the information. It is good information to know.

Same thing just happened to me! I was scammed last year on my birthday so I am aware of never giving out any information ever again, but there was a lady who “got in a car accident, and needed to give away her beautiful 16hh 6 yr dressage trained friesian… How did this not raise flags right away. Then as she responded to me she sent pictures of a man riding and then a woman, and the location changed to Washington state. I also really wanted this gelding, he sounded amazing. I don’t understand whyyy people do this?!??!?!??!! Its so frustrating!!!!

Thank you for posting this, I was just contacted by this person too, I was looking for a horse to replace the horse I’m having to put down for the genetic disease HERDA found in Quarterhorses.

I began to be suspicious because I couldn’t get straight answers regarding the horse, Because first stating that I had to pay the shipper, but she just moved to Seattle, WA which is 3 hours from me and when I suggested that I had a friend located in Pasco who could pick up the horse for me, but she didn’t want that; then she wasn’t info about payment arrangements became mixed up when about the money arrangements between paying her and the shipper, because I could not do this at this time fortunate for me. When I had red flags began to rise, ‘bad english’ when given my phone number, person would not call nor give me her and her supposedly husband’s phone number, nor her name, but had mine and but they didn’t give me theirs. I went searching on the net to find if there was an email scam on the internet about Friesan “Miley”; Thank you for reporting it last Jan/2011, This is June/2011 and they are doing it again…claiming accident, all of it.. Thanks, you helped to save me from making a BIG mistake!

Ahhh. How interesting to see how widespread animal scams are!

They are found in most affluent countries in the world. The scammers post ads on cats, dogs, horses, fish, ferrets, birds, monkeys and other animals. Their language is extremely basic English and when Google-translated it becomes even worse. They have a base in Kameroun. They simply LOVE Western Union. They earn their money by taking advanced fees for transport. The pictures of the animals are always fantastic.

People, take care! This is international, organised crime. Talk to schoolmates, family and friends about scams. Spread the word!

We cannot stop them, but we can make life a bit more difficult for these people.

      Hi there.

I live in South Africa, Cape Town. This horse was introduced to me by a lady called Elizabeth. He is exactly the same horse as in the pictures, with the same rider, except his name was Teddy. After much communication, “Elizabeth” phoned us, and spoke very broken communication. Nothing about what she was saying made sense and a day later we were called by the “transport” company who sounded much like a male version of “Elizabeth” and told us we should send the payments and the horse will be delivered. When we googled the company, they didn’t exist. They sent us a website along with their banking details, but said we may only pay through Western Union bank. We had to pay the full price before the horse even left. Elizabeth told us that he was in Botswana, but the company was in Cameroon. It all sounded very strange and when we googled it, we found many different ads for this same horse, with the same pictures and in different countries, but listed under different names. Three names he was listed as were “Ebony, Treasure and Teddy.” This is certainly a scam. What is gained is that when you pay the actual fee for transport, it goes directly to the scammers and the horse doesn’t arrive. You can find more about it here:

        Hallo Amber,

We were very excited about this ad as we are looking for a fresian or schoolmaster for the my childern to ride. Our Thoroughbred is just too old now.

I found the ad in Cape Town’s Junkmail and contacted the person. From the looks of the picture I thought the location of the horse could be Constantia, Cape Town. I was very surpised when the reply came from Botswana from a Mabeth Lauren Botha. She called him Treasure. Everything was fishy about it from then on. I asked for more recent photo’s hoping to find the horse in the typical arid Botswana landscape but the Netherland’s landscape kept on popping up with pure white Dutch riders! They wanted us to pay shipping fees but I suggested that they pay the shipping fees and that we get a vet out on arrival to declare the horse sound. Then we will gladly repay shipping costs. Not a word from them since then. I actually enjoyed catching them out. They even sent photo’s of other horses in Botswana landscape to try and prove a point but no Fresian! Then photo’s of cakes with horse pictures on to prove they’re the real deal. They also went on about his dressage abilities and that they will send his shoes, two saddles, bridle, diet program vet’s documents, passport etc. According to them no quarentine was needed as the two countries are next to each other! Do they think we are stupid or what?!

Anyway, we had fun! By the way we are still looking for a schoolmaster if you know one let me know!

This same ad is now all over dreamhorse.com I became very leary when the owner (in this case freddy) was in Tenn, the ad orriginated as TX and the horse was supposed to be in Il. My guess is they are trying to get you to send money for shipping. I have been requesting the address for the farm where the horse is located for days. The pics are the same as a horse that has been offered for “Adoption” in the UK. He looks like too nice a horse for someone to give away also. Freddy claimed he did not believe in selling animals.

What a shame. It’s one thing to prey on greedy people who fall for the “don’t tell anyone and I’ll share the million dollars with you” scam. But to take advantage of horse lovers who are trying to save a beautiful animal, it’s really low. I hope NO ONE falls victim, but I fear they’re making money hand over fist.

This horse ( if healthy) would be much too valuable to give away.If the owner wanted to ensure a good home they would sell it for a very fair price (still high compared to your regular backyard horse – at the very least 5-6000 (from what it looks like it would be much higher) . Anyone paying a price like that would ensure the horse has a good home. No one would give this breed of horse away. This horse looks like it would be registered – ask for the registration number and then contact the registry. Looks very much like a scam. Ask them to send another picture with a newspaper from the local town attached to the saddle ( so you can see the headline) – it just might help if you are really interested in pursuing -at least you would know there was a horse and were it was that day.

Well, those criminals are just about everywhere! They started “small” with puppy frauds — now they try to steal money from horse lovers! There are no pets — just greedy criminal who will ask you to send money gram via Wal-Mart or Western Union. When you do that, you can kiss your founds Good Buy!

Just ignore any suspicious offers or better yet immediately report any offers (that are not from a safe place where you can go in person) to authorities. Internet is flooded with trained scammers from Cameroon, Nigeria, Kenya and recently from Spain — some of those criminals have contacts in United States, so be very careful to whom you give your personal information

    Greetings,
Please find below an exchange of emails I have had with the webmaster of the EquineNow.com website. As you will see, I was also fooled by a fraudulent Friesian advert.
Thankfully, while awaiting a reply to my request for further information about a Friesian gelding, I happened to discover your remarkable public discussion about this previously undetected equine scam.
If anyone needed an example of the power of public input, this Ebony Friesian Scam alert certainly fills the bill.
Armed with this information, I entered into a positive exchange with the webmaster of the EquineNow website, who is now taking strong steps to stop the infiltration of that site by these unscrupulous crooks.
That exchange is beneath my signature.

    Hello,
My name is CuChullaine O’Reilly. I am the Founder of the international equestrian exploration organization, the Long Riders’ Guild, the publisher of more than 300 equestrian books, an international equestrian investigative reporter and the webmaster for numerous academic equine websites.
I mention these facts so as to demonstrate the depth of my knowledge of the equestrian world, as well as to alert you to the fact that your website was misused by equestrian crooks.
Earlier today I became a victim of a Friesian ‘for sale’ scam which is being operated on your website.
It was only by chance that I happened to discover another website which listed emails from other victims. The information provided there provided me with the evidence needed to learn that I had been set up by a fraudulent seller.
Upon returning to your website I discovered that you have created a well worded warning about this Friesian scam.
My question is, because you certainly know your website is being repeatedly misused in this manner, why don’t you publish this warning above each Friesian page instead of burying it deep inside your website?
Such a placement/warning would instantly have alerted me, and doubtless hundreds of other well-meaning potential buyers, to the risks we were being exposed to.
It would also serve as a deterrent to the crooks who are turning your website into an accomplice for crime.
If I hear back from the criminals, I will be in touch with the police bunco squad at Graham, Texas, where the imaginary horse is supposedly living.
Your input into this internet fraud is of grave concern to me and I would appreciate your reply at your earliest convenience.
    Thank you.

    Hello,
Thanks for getting back to me regarding this devilish method of preying on the public’s trust. Having spent months searching on both sides of the Atlantic for a suitable gelding for my upcoming ride around the world, I was very excited to have apparently discovered a seller who had the perfect horse for my 12,000 mile journey.
You can imagine my disappointment when later that day I discovered the photograph from your website, which purported to depict the Friesian ‘gelding’ I was awaiting a reply on, was being used to hustle an imaginary Friesian mare on another sale site.
That discovery in turn led to a quick check of the internet, wherein was revealed a site where other concerned horse buyers had pooled their discoveries about this Nigerian-style internet horse scam.
Here is a link to that important discussion.
    http://www.theequinest.com/friesian-in-texas/
While awaiting your reply I discovered that other internet equine sale sites are also being polluted by this scam.
One such example pretends to have a Friesian at Fargo, North Dakota and lists this phone number 856-282-0952. But a quick check reveals that this is actually a New Jersey area number.
    http://www.horseville.com/php/view.php?id=225647
A check of your website just now reveals that the two Friesians which originally drew my attention, named Ype and JK, seem to have been withdrawn. This is just as well as, if the scammers had replied to my query, I planned to telephone the chief of police, and local newspaper editor in Graham, Texas, where the Friesian was supposedly located, so as to alert these local authorities to how their town was being used as a cover for this quickly spreading scam.
While the ad that drew my attention yesterday seems to have been withdrawn, your website is hosting an interesting ad for a Friesian which claims it is “almost gated.” Despite my many years of equine experience I’ve yet to meet an animal with this rare architectural description.
Nevertheless this imaginary Friesian is available for the an affordable $1000.
    http://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-o1528925572
What I believe is another strong indication of fraud is that, like many of these phony Friesian ads, this seller provides no name or contact info but does pretend to supply a You Tube video. Yet a check at You Tube only takes you to a general page, with no horse footage provided. So this is another clue as to the scammer’s method.
Meanwhile, there are pages of other obviously phony Friesian ads still listed on your website. The one listing “Very feminine face, petite build,” seems to have strayed over from a cowgirl-singles website.
    http://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-o1540689458
Other obvious examples, include a “two for one” pair of sale-priced Freisians. Here are some examples which could almost certainly be removed immediately.

A visit to your website just now has revealed that you have placed the words “Beware of scam ads” at the top of each page. But as a webmaster myself, could I suggest that you clarify the wording to read “BEWARE SCAM FRIESIAN ADS.”
Anyone using the internet will recognize the deliberate use of capital letters and visit the suggested link.
Moreover, such a strident warning will immediately discourage scammers, who will realize that their secret has been exposed.
In conclusion, your website is providing a valuable service to buyers and sellers alike, so it is certainly disappointing to have to spend time patrolling against these obnoxious low-level pony parasites.
However, as money may have indeed been illegally enticed from the public via your website’s ads, I trust you will now ensure that you will take the steps necessary to protect genuine buyers and sellers from this type of blatant abuse.
Many thanks for your attention to this matter.

Please post this I have found this scam in North Carolina as well. If you check any of these sites you will see Fresian horses for under $1500. The latest is Tango listed by Marcelo Biglante. In this scam he claims he and his wife have been in a car accisent and are no longer able to ride. Another recent scam I came across was a lady in South Carolina who claims she moved to Utah because her son was recently killed in a car accident and the horse reminds her of him. Again both parties lie about their actual location and want money for thed transport, saying the balance of the horse will only be paid upon delivery if you are completely satisfied. These people are complete scum! DO NOT FALL INTO THEIR TRAP!!! Here is the last email Marcelo sent today:

    Hi there
Many thanks for the mail and happy to read from you .Well i must say i am impressed from your reply and i think you will make the perfect home for my gelding .to give you more information about his performance and character , i must say he is the best i have ever had. He is pure sweety that likes to be cuddled and on the other hand he wants to please you. He is very intelligent and gentle. Super social and not afraid of traffic, dogs and children but still a young horse of course. He has absolute potential .He is a sweet and well handled boy in all the ways. He star ted his training a little while ago and is so easy with taking up new work. Will make – within the shortest time – an excellent family horse or best friend for life! Full motherline, baroque built and super character .I assure you that you will get the best gelding ever . He will come with his passport and all tacks accompanied .He will come with two saddles , brindles and Bits .Rugs and blanket shall accompany him.He is UTD on his coggins and will come with his health guarantee . But all i need from you is the assurance that you will take proper care of him and send me updated photos of the friesian every after two months . I will definitely let you have the gelding but will like to know when you are fit to come for the pick up.Presently i am located in Oakland California where i have been primarily transferred to work with the Kinship Child Adoption center . Though i am due to resume my duty , i will like that he is taken to his new home since i intend to dedicate my self and do my work .So i will like to know when you are ready to come for the pick up .If coming to pick up will be stressful , then i will advice you come over with a trailer of your choice to haul him to your home .You will have to pay just for the reservation of the gelding before coming over and that will cost $350 .That will be payable to me to reserve him for you .Well i can still arrange for the hauling of the friesian over to you .Hauling of the friesian over to you will cost just $840 . That will be paid to the hauling agency that i will prefer to use and not to me and they will tell you how you will have to send the money for the gelding to be hauled over to you .If you prefer that i have him hauled over , then the price of the friesian will be paid only when he arrive safely and is in good health. there will be no reservation .If that is ok with you then i will have to register the gelding at the agency and they have him delivered over to you as soon as possible .I will need your personal information so that i have him registered in your name and address . the details needed are

    Your full names……………………….
    Your city………………………….
    Home address/Delivery address………………….
    Zip code…………………………………………
    Mobile telephone number……………..
    Landline telephone number…………………….

When i have all these details , i will then take him to the agency and do the registration . when i am done , i will get back to you as soon as possible and the agency will also contact you through email and phone on how shipment will proceed and how payments work.I will make sure i use a reliable hauling agency and they will have him hauled over.
Regards and hope to read from you as soon as possible

The add for the friesian Tango is now on craig’s list. They have refined the scam. Now they ask $15,000 and say “scammer will be reported.” My daughter inquired about a swap, and they went along with it, but I knew I’d heard about this horse as a scam, so I wrote and said I wanted the horse. I was told it’d be going to a high end auction (2 days away) so they wanted me to wire the money. I finally let loose on the scammer, who claimed to be a mother of a 6 yr old, but from her responses, it was clear it’s a scam…beware! They are getting better at this with pics and bloodlines.

Just found your discussion on this scam-and indeed, it is a scam. My conversation with EVA GOOD ended with “I’ll forward my address to you, when can you come out?” This time, she is living in Billings, MT. I’m glad to find your site.

I hope they can find these fakes so maybe they will be put in jail.
Eva called me a few weeks ago not knowing I had talked to her before. I had little fun with her before she hung up on me.I couldn’t get back with # she called from.
I wish I could have gotten more info, but I did’t.
    Sorry everyone.

Yuup, too good to be true is right on the bucket. We’ve been having an exchange with a supposed Mr (Mrs.?) Torres for about two days when the whole shipping deal came up. My dad (not being an English speaker) became way too excited before really giving it some thought. So they called us, and the man that called had a VERY heavy Indian accent. Umm hello? I know they send our jobs overseas but seriously. Here is a part of the letter.

    [[[Hello ,
Thanks for the mail and interest on my friesian gelding .rex is
already taken . But i still have another friesian gelding
(Tango).Tango and is 16.2 hands 7 years old .He will come with all
health papers and one year health guarantee. this gelding {Tango} is
not only beautiful, completely healthy and sound, great, sane, trail
horse deluxe! has awesome four beat gaits.I am taking my horse off
the market as a riding horse as i do not have a rider for him since i
was involved in a car accident with my wife and both of us can’t ride
    anymore , therefore i am unable to take video’s of him being ridden .;
This super gelding has the most amazing paces. His walk is huge with a
great over track. His trot is off the
floor, uphill, floating & extremely big. he has a fab canter which is
powered from behind. Tango has a lovely temperament. he is good in all
respects. he will travel in a trailer or lorry & is happy to stand in
the box munching hay at shows. he will hack out alone & in company.. he
is very forward when hacking so wouldn`t be suitable for a novice. he
has been cantered in open spaces & is very well behaved. When hacking
alone he has a good imagination but is not silly with it. Tango has
been lightly competed. Judges love him.. he always gets fab comments
like super paces (normaly receiving 8`s). In his last outing he
received 80% in a intro test being the winner in a class of 14!!Tango went through professional training. There he learned all the lateral movements & performs them very
well indeed. he is how ever rusty on Half pass as i am not sure how to
do this. he has an amazing medium trot as well. Recently a friend had
started training him in changes, he would still need more
training to perfect this but looked like he would pick this up with
ease. he has had regular coaching with Steven Cruikshank who is a
class 2 dressage judge. Tango can jump, but this is not my thing so he
could do with further education on this subject.

Before i brought him home from Germany when he was 2, he was
professionally trained & was put through his gelding performance with
super results. he scored the following; WALK 8. TROT 7. CANTER 7.
    RIDABILITY 7 & 8. JUMPING2 X 7. he has full pink papers & is branded.

My Husband was an experienced beginner and he really enjoyed riding
where as I am an experienced rider and also enjoy riding tango. So
therefore, I am sure that it will be great for just about any riding
level from experienced beginner on up the scale. I also know that
tango would make a fantastic field trial horse if someone was
interested in him for that because tango has great endurance and
listens so well. I want tango to find a great home and will only sell
to such a home. Also, tango is fine with other horses or without them.
He has lived in a boarding situation before and did just as well as he
does in a private home situation.up to date on vaccines and dental
care. I don’t know what else I can say about tango other than if you
are looking for a horse that will be the same everyday and bring you
hours of enjoyment whether out on the trail or in the pasture then, it
might be the horse for you! I thought I would go ahead and post him so
that somebody could start enjoying him during the nice Fall weather
that is soon approaching ..Before i let you have the gelding i will
    like to know the following

Have you ever had a horse before ??
    Do you own a Ranch??
Are you an experienced Rider or a Beginner??
How soon do you need this gelding ??
    Where are you located ??

I am asking all these question so as to make sure that the gelding
gets into the hands of some one who will take proper care of the
gelding ..Do email me when you shall come to test ride and take the
horse along. Tango is for $1400 .please do email me when you are
ready to come over for test riding and pick up .find attached to this
mail some a picture of tango my Friesian Gelding .Please do email me
when you are fit to come over so that we arrange meeting
Thanks and waiting to read from you ]]]

First of all, it starts off as a male speaker — then switches to a female speaker half way. Later on when I ask WHY they have a spanish e-mail (the heading was actually in spanish) and they said they were Italian, knew English and Italian but not Spanish. ??? Then things got too.. iffy. Which culminated in me finding this site (many thanks to all who have shared btw, saved us almost a thousand dollars!) and sending a ‘personal’ email to the seller. I may be 17, but I’m not one to fall for silly games like these.

has awesome four beat gaits? all right anyone with equine experience would know that a freisian does not gait! let alone have awesome 4 beat gaits! a canter is a 2 or 3 beat gait.. and that right there is a sign its a scam His walk is huge with a
great over track.(i do believe thats not a good thing :S His trot is off the floor, uphill, floating & extremely big.(hard to ride much?!) he has a fab canter which is powered from behind.(i would hope so, and this guy almost sounds gay with the FAB canter) ok so i have worked with many horses.. and even ridden gaited ones.. this is NOT a freisian! it sounds like a gaited mule that has a habbit of kicking itself in the head when it walks!

    DO UNDERSTAND ONE THING:

THOSE PSYCHOPATHS WOULD RATHER SELL A HORSE FOR MEAT – IF THEY HAD ONE THEN POST IT FOR AN ADOPTION!

THEY ARE PATHOLOGICAL LAYER’S, SCAMMERS, CRIMINALS WHO WOULD SELL THEIR OWN CHILD, SISTER OR MOTHER TO A PROSTITUTION RING!

DO NOT HAVE ANY SENTIMENTS WITH THOSE PARASITES!!

THEY ARE NOT HUMANS NOR ANIMALS – ANIMALS NOT NOT DO HARM!

    Hi
I live in the UK and these scammers use the same scam’s over and over again. I answered an ad wanting more info about a gelding offered at £1500. I knew immediately from the response that it was a scam. The seller had poor English, they reduced the price without asking and wanted to get the horse transported and I pay when it arrived. I am much too long in the tooth to fall for such a poor scam, but I played along, gave them false details etc, until I had played long enough and informed them I knew their I.P address, could track them and that I had notified the advertising site of their scams. I also took the opportunity to increase their English vocabulary with words to describe them, not readily available in the English dictionary!! If a horse appears to be too cheap..then be wary. Nobody in their right mind should EVER agree to part with money or personal details to purchase a horse they had not been out to see, test ride, examine the passport and proof of ownership and have vetted. I just bought a horse from Spain, but not without speaking to the seller and taking a trip out to Benidorm to view and ride it. I reported another Scam regarding Friesians I saw today, the picture ‘stolen’ from a reputable site in Holland. I posted the web page to them for their information and notified the advertising site. Use common sense and if something looks too good to be true, then it most likely is!! REPORT THESE LOW LIFES and DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR HARD EARNED CASH!!

The same lady emailed me only this time she was a 14.1hh 5 year old mare called Haisi. She threw the horse at me and expected me to provide all my personal details within 3 days.

My mum thought it sounded too good to be true so I then decided to research it. That was when the same email address I had googled came up on three different websites with the same horse and the same rider under different names. I’m from the UK but other websites with the same horse on were also from as far as the US.

If anyone contacts you under this email address about a Fresian horse for adoption then please remember this post. melanidiote@gmail.com

I have had this same scam attempt on me. I will be posting my interactions with her on my blog . I hope that by posting this at more places it will reach a greater # people and no one will be fooled in to paying for shipping on a horse that does not exist.

“REAL WORLD” – GET THE MEANING OF WORD “GREEDY”!

WHEN SOMEONE BUYS, THAT MEANS HE/SHE SPENDS THE MONEY – IT’S NOT GREEDY!

WHEN SCUMBAGS LIKE YOU DEFRAUD REAL, WORKING PEOPLE – THAT IS GREEDY AND CRIME – YOU PATHOLOGICAL WAY OF THINKING(?) TRY TO “EXCUSE” A CRIME!

INTERNATIONAL CRIME DONE BY LAZY, UNEDUCATED, STREET GANGSTERS, WHO HAVE NO CONSCIOUS NOR HUMAN EMOTIONS – JUST PURE GREED AND LOTS OF JEALOUSY FOR OTHERS’ LIFESTYLES.

SUCH SCUMBAGS ARE NOT “REAL PEOPLE” – NOR THEY ARE ANIMALS… POOR EXCUSE FOR A “HUMAN BEING” – OWNER OF THIS BLOG SHOULD POST IP OF THIS SCUMBAG – CAMEROON OR NIGERIA OR KENYA – I’M SURE!

I had the same experience as many are discussing. The horse’s name was Lenny. He is still listed at http://www.equinehits.com id # 276534. I realized that it was a scam early but continued emails to see how far they are willing to go. Mathew Sims Mathewsims33@yahoo.com (owner)posted the ad it Arizona and now lives in Louisiana. He gave me a fake vet name, fake transport service, etc. I talked with the owner and the transport company. I could bearly understand them and both numbers were unavailable. The key to understanding if you have a scam – if it is too good to be true, it is!! It seems that most of the emails have broken english as a common thread. There are no limits to what humans will do to get money without working!

    ***MAJOR SCAM ORGANIZATION!***

Anytime on a pet selling website you see an ad for a purebred animal worth many more times than it is being sold for, do NOT reply to it. These scammers are a small group of people from Cameroon or Nigeria and have ads on all of the major pet selling/adoption websites. Never send personal information or full names because you could also become an alias they use to scam someone else. They have been found to have collected over $350k from unsuspecting buyers. NEVER wire money, buy any pet unless you or a reliable source can see the animal in person, and USE WISE JUDGEMENT. why would an animal normally worth $15,000 now be worth $1500 or less. If you’re in Tennessee and look for horses in that state and the horse happens to be located somewhere else and some strange “catastrophy” happened wherethey much give away their animal, just don’teven give them a reply. Delete the email and avoid suspicious ads.

    Thanks,
    K.

The real world guy is using broken English…
The scammers love to reply to their own ads just to try
to denounce the fact that the ads are obvious scams. Some of these men have been caught before using fake ids to go to western unions to get their money. They are school drop outs and speak very broken English with poor spelling and punctuation.

I just almost fell for this scam, a lady called Cate who is extremely ill, just lost her husband and is also pregnant, giving away a 9yo friesian. I found the ad on a dutch site with the aid of babelfish, but miraculously she is in UK with the horse. She wanted me to wire 480 euros to cameroon for delivery of the horse. The “shipping company” also phoned me and I told them I would either pay cash on delivery of the horse or find my own shippers, but Cate would not give me the address of where to collect the horse!

I played along with this to see how far it would go, I told her my little boy wanted to re name the horse Goliath after the horse in ladyhawke, and he is sooo excited, (which is untrue as I did not wish to disappoint hint him) but I also told her of my very true health problems, in the last 3 years I have had varicelle pneumonia which nearly killed me, breast cancer and now sarcoidosis, she was still willing to rip me off!
Unfortunately there are some genuine people out there looking for good homes for horses, I was given for free and beautiful 10 yo fully papered PRE stallion, high school trained who I totally adore. He has a very slight back problem which I was aware of, and I was asked to pay for shipping up front, but I checked out the shipping company and found them to be one of the top companies operating in Europe, I phoned their office from the web address and everything was in order, so beware, but sometimes fairy tales do come true!

I have found 5 Friesians for “adoption” to good home. They all are well cared for and excellent dressage prospects. All have different names. But every one is the same horse with the same rider. I live in Texas and they are listed here. But upon contact with “owner” they have been in California, West Virginia, North Dakota and Cameroon. Am waiting to hear back about others. SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!! And a friend of mine found one and received the exact same email as me, but 6 months later. So yeah, don’t fall for it.

It,s too bad there’s so many people out there willing to prey upon innocent people, but then this is worldwide exposure and what’s can be good for millions, can be disasterous to thousands!! ceciliasuns@yahoo.com <<< scammer. Was posted on numerous sites. When I was looking he was selling Friesians for $700 and I just was wondering why they were so cheap so I sent an e-mail. He wanted to know my information right away and I didn't give it to him period. I said for 1. I have to find a board and 2. I need more info. Tried to say he would give me two Friesians for absolutely nothing and that $700 was for shipping to Atlanta because he lives in Texas (although it was posted as Atlanta). I e-mailed him back and said well, I'm sure the hauling company won't mind me to pay them when the horses get here and that I refuse to pay without the horses physically infront of me. I get a reply that says

"Sorry.Talk to you later.someone just emailed me wanting both of them tomorrow and she is willing to pay $100 extra for my patience.I really wanted you to get them but you are taking so long and i have to get back to work.Sorry"

And I just let him know I was aware of his scam and let it be at that. Please don't get hooked by this because I'm new to the horse thing so even though it seemed too good to be true, I really wanted to believe it was true because I want an awesome horse for cheap. Just be careful and that e-mail is the e-mail of contact. THIS PERSON IS A SCAMMER.

It annoys me so much that some genuine horses out there (like my beautiful PRE) will get bypassed as a scam because of these people. I am so lucky to have him, but he came from a reputable place. My only advice is to say that you will find your own transport and pay haulage to them. If they wont give you the address of where the horse is held then you can think that it is a scam, but there again, so many horses are being stolen, would genuine people wish to give address out of where an expensive horse is being held????
It is the way of the world it seems, to be untrusting of people, and to get scammed if you do trust people, it is so bloody sad!

Well they are still at it. I to was almost lured in until I was asked for personal information and the horse moved locations overnight!

This person claimed to be Daniela Medina and wanted to sell the horse for $3200.00. Then when I stopped communicating they offered to lower the price as well. Then they got mixed up with which emails they had already replied to and replied again to an earlier email with the old location information.

Pretty sorry scammer when they can’t keep their story straight even through email!

Here is the email address of this person:

    medina0501@hotmail.com

Here is the content from their emails:

    Email 2:

    Hi ,
it was nice reading from you again.I am so impressed with the mail you just wrote to me .This really made me to understand that you are a horse lover.I have loved horse all my life and I had my first horse when I was 12 which was a Tennessee walker and was bought for me by my grand father as a birthday gift.He was suffering from an influenza which affected his lung.He had nasal discharge and lost of appetite .I tried all I could but he passed away. So Jeanna is a nice horse and the reason why I am selling him is that I got posted here in Triangle,Virginia for a new job that I acquired which is very demanding and I won’t have time to care for Jeanna anymore. He is a nice horse and I don’t want to stress him nor make him feel unloved.he is always alone and feeling very bored so I want him to go to a good, caring and loving home where he is going to be given much attention.Like I said that I am now in Virginia and Jeanna is here with me so I was suggesting that you could come down here and see him then take him along .If you feel that coming here could be stressful to you and prefer that I arrange for a safe transportation and delivery of Jeanna to your home, then it is up to you deciding and letting me know. If you decide to come down here, then you should let me know when you shall be coming .If you decide that I have him transported and delivered to your home ,since you will be paying for the transportation of Jeanna also,I can help in reducing the price of the horse.I really want the best for him so I don’t want anyone who will be taking Jeanna to stress so I am going to send him with the tack, saddle and the blanket,so you won’t be buying any of these things. For Jeanna to be transported to your home,I will need to have your full names, full home address, phone number, state, city and zip code which will be used by the hauler to deliver Jeanna right to your home so you won’t be going to pick him up from somewhere.I will be waiting to hear from you soon,

Hi,thank you for the interest in my horse Jeanna.I just want to tell you that he is still available right now.Yes this horse is currently in US.He trailers well and is good for farrier, vet, etc. He has 2-3 times riding per week but he is ready to go even 5 time per week . He is regular on his vet and his shots are up to date .He has all his paper work done. This horse has been trained for trail riding, show, dressage and is undergoing his 2nd dressage level .He has also been ridden western and English. He has a gentle personality and will do well with kids and other house pets.He is good for beginner and intermediate riders. He is very friendly and playful to them.He is DNA tested , can take voice command and he does not easily become spoke and is broke to ride, even a seven year old child can handle him. He is a good listener to his rider and love to be taken out for a ride.He is very sound and ok in health , no vices and he has never been ill nor injured .He has never been affected by any disease due to the fact that his vaiccines are given regularly. If your looking for a dressage ,show or trail gelding , it doesn’t get any better than this.Jeanna is very much dressage type,an eager student and very willing to work hard for his rider and also willing to learn . I don’t say these things lightly as they are not easy things to do but Jeanna is really that special. He has lots of professional training including clinics with late Bren Daker. No regret to anyone who is going to have Jeanna . In fact,he is going to make a perfect family member . I just want to ask if you have ever owned a horse and for how long? I will a also like to know where you live so that I can invite you to my place for viewing and pickup of Jeanna . I will also like to know how soon you will want to bye this my horse? I will be waiting to hear fom you soon

I just suffered from a car accident that affected my spine and i
was advised by my doctor not to ride anymore .so i am looking for that
loving and caring family that will adopt him and spoil him with much
    love and care .
Please i will like to ask you some few question’s to gain your
    experience in Horse Care
    Are you married ?
How many kids do you have ?
Do you have a stable ?
What do you think about horses ?
Have you ever owned a horse before ?
What is your exact location ?
Please get back to me with answers to the above questions
so i could forward you some of his pictures.
    Thanks
    Daniel Frysler

Hello and thank you very much for getting back to me in regards to the adoption of my horses . i am also very very happy and pleased with your responses and i now believe my horses will have a wonderful with you and the rest of the family .
The accident which caused the major damage on my spine has caused me to have to hit the wheelchair for the next 3 years . this has made me to relocate to my parents in Pretoria – South Africa because i had nobody back there who could take good care of me and the horses . i have to give them out because i do not want them to grow naughty since they have had some good training. it is also very bad for your horses to have to spend all their days at the stable . so that is why i am looking for that lovely family and home that will give them the love and care they deserve .
I do not believe in selling animals that is why i am not asking for an adoption fee after them . they can be used for eventing, shows, and trail . they have also had a complete 90 days dressage training and are good for endurance riding and loves kids . You can also use them in whatsoever field you want to use them since they are well trained and have almost passed through all the various stages in horse training.
So the only way you will receive any or both of them is by me setting up a delivery for you and they will be delivered to you at your home . all what you will be required to pay will be the transportation and delivery charges . so please i will like to know if you want both of them or just one to be delivered to you so that i can contact some delivery agencies and get a reasonable price quote for the transportation and delivery of the horses to your home .
Thanks and i wait to read from you at your convenience .
    Daniel Frysler

Hello and thanks for the mail . the horses are presently with me in Pretoria . i had to relocate with them because i had nobody who could take proper care of them . i also did make some inquiries about the transportation and delivery cost of Jason and i got a reasonable price quote of R 4785 . this money will be paid directly to the delivery agency that will be responsible for the transportation and delivery and everything has already been put in place . so please let me know if you will be willing to pay for his transportation and delivery and also let me know when exactly you want him to be delivered to you . thanks and waiting for your prompt response .

Hello and thanks for the mail . i don’t know so much about the payment terms but i believe a certain percentage will be paid before so that his flight ticket can be purchase and the rest will be paid when you receive him at your home . so please let me know exactly when you want him to be delivered to you so that i can arrange all his documents and his equipments and get him ready . thanks and waiting …… Also extend my warmth Christmas greetings to your parents .

I then told him that I can’t just pay that amount and also mentioned to him that I can pick him up in January and this was his reply:

Hello and thanks for the mail . i am also very sorry for the late reply . i was at the hospital for some check up on my spine . i was very happy when you made mentioned of the fact that Jason will be picked up from Pretoria but it is rather unfortunate that my doctor made me to understand that i need a major operation on my spine as soon as possible and i will therefore be traveling to the states for that operation before the 25th . so it is very clear that i have to let him out before that day . please i know it will kind of disturb you a little but i want to assure you that everything will be ok .
I also understand you cannot afford all the transportation and delivery fee but i want to let you know that i am very willing and able to help you complete the balance . so please let me know how much you can afford so that i can complete it and we pay for Jason to travel . please kindly get back to me as soon as possible so that we can get things arranged for Jason to travel . i also want to thank you for your understanding .

    …………………………..

I also received an e-mail from his “wife” that read:

Hello and thank you for the interest in my horse and i will like start

They also have the same add for the squirrel monkeys in various categories, (including the dog- and cat categories :-/ uhmmmm)
But they posted it under various e-mails cause when you choose to view the poster’s other ads, only the one you’re viewing appears. Although they use the same address in all ads….Weird. i already reported all three as scam to the gumtree company..Hopefully they remove it very, very soon!!

Gotta love these dummies. Who would give away a Friesian with FTSE349 bloodlines. After numerous emails, the seller had agreed to GIVE this horse to us with the agreement of me to pay for shipping of $350.00. They never would provide a phone number or answer any questions about the horse in the emails. Just wanted to hurry up and give the horse away so they could travel to Canada. Wanting to know if this was a scam,I played along. We arrainged for this to take place and recieved an invoice from the shipping company via email and a phone call. The shipping company required a $400 Western Union transfer before the horse would ship. The invoice only had international phone #s and the shipper would not provide a US phone number. Once I asked the shipping agency if this was the “White” Paint we inquired about his answer was “Yes”. So Itold him he had been “BUSTED” As you can tell the add was for a Freisian. (Black).

There are alot of these ads on horsetopia.com. I tried to alert them to this but it appears that they are of a suspicious nature. There was no way to report the scams to the site. Just a big runaround. The horses had many different names, no pictures, but all of the nonsense that goes with it.

I recently sent an e-mail to a man claiming to adopting out his friesian. All I said was “free friesian, whats the catch?” Roy or Jesse James, which ever he prefers to be called by sent me an e-mail back about his gelding Hanoverian mare which he referred to constantly as ‘her’ but also said twice in the e-mail that ‘she’ was a gelding. His questions about the horse were vague and dumb “can you cover the cost of a horse? will your children be kind to the horse” etc. Yet his ad was clearly for a friesian. I smell a scam and I don’t think this person has any idea what they are talking about. A warning to buyers.

The horse is now called Bently a 15.3hh Friesian. I e-mailed them today and then phoned a friend thinking that maybe the horse had been stolen or something. As soon as I got the e-mail about shipping alarm bells rang, it was just to good to be true. My friend found this site and warned me. I would never have parted with any money up front but there are obviously people out there that will.

shri750@gmail.com e-mailed the month of Dec about 2 Friesians for sale. $700, I only wanted gelding. Next thing I know the horse is on the move form co. to Tx. when I decided to take the horse. I am informed that the horse is at the hauler and to wire 750 and the horse is on it way. Yes I know better but heart desire blinded me stupid. The company e-mailed thier papers of who they were ( Tekence Age) . All seemed Ok until I get a call stateing that they had been stopped by Okl Highway Patrol and Animal control for insurence on horses and for 25000 more the horse could proceed. No I didn’t send the money and I did check with the Okl High Patrol and there was no such stop or such a thing.Check with a reputable hauler and he said that these people were scanning people with alkind of transports. sshi750@gmail.com even e- mailed me to say that she would put up half the money and I could keep it when we got refund at end of trip, told her no one bad decision did not get 2 .I now see pictures of Jason and Jessie all over horse web sites and even in “I look for cheep Friesian. guess it have horse picture will travel.

I’m more concerned about the saddle-on-the-withers pictures!

My friend had a recent Friesian scam tried on her though…. the woman advertised the horse in Horse Deals Australia and when my friend tried to arrange a viewing/ride the woman said “Well I’m selling him because I’m actually in Thailand at the moment, so I can’t organise that for you” at this point I was saying don’t buy an unseen horse, then the woman came out with “He’s here in Thailand too, so if you want to buy him you have to pay upfront for him and the air transport for him to come to Australia”…. yes, because it’s so normal to pay $5000 for a horse you haven’t seen, then pay another $1000 to ship him to your country. All this just on the understanding that the owner will be honest and not just keep the money and never send him (if he does even exist!).. hmm, no thanks!

Hour later shipper called and asked me to pay insurance fee’s that were refundable in cash by transporter who would be dropping horse off…

This site has a fresian add on it that is a SCAM ! they are asking $600 dolloars for a soposadly 8 yr old fresian gelding whos qualifications are worth more than that! The horses name is Jort. they want $500 dollars to ship the horse by plane. Only a western Union will do. The horse was placed on a Kentucky site but the “owner” said he lives in Miami Florida, then the owner using the name Dr. Young Martins, had a “horse hauler” call me, wanting payment immidiatly his name was Rolland Moore. The horse hauler was also supposadly in Miami Florida as well but I was to sent the Western Union to Cameroon, Africa. This is a scam and I hope they get caught!

This horse (same pictures) is listed on horseclicks.com by a woman named Alexsandra and another ad on horseclicks.com by a woman named Bianca. The wording is the same in these ads except the name and the email provided is alexsandrabianci@yahoo.it the same in both ads. This time the horse’s name is Solo and the story is that the woman was in a car accident and will not be able to ride again. She is looking for someone to adopt the horse and pay shipping. This horse is listed as being in Texas, California, Georgia, Michigan, etc.

I did email the seller and asked to come see the horse in person. I have not received a response. Anytime a seller denies the right to see the horse in person, there is a problem. I hope nobody has lost money to this person.

      Hi there,
I felt for your post and just had to say something. I have been looking at legitimate places. what you said made me sad so I thought I’d share a legitimate adoption agency that I’ve been thinking of getting a horse from. I dont know where youre from but they have places all around the US and theyre racehorses which is even better to adopt!

Well…We got the e-mail…researched it and of course found out that it was a scam – This was a Fresian gelding named RENO and the man had a horrible accident and is partially paralyzed and his wife does not ride. Wanted $700, but will give away free to a good home – right!

I suggest that each of you forward this to your local FBI cyber crime unit who has the ability to deal with this on an international level since his e-mail is an international one – let’s sent this fellow and his cronies to prison!

I emailed him about his two Fresian Geldings, Reno and Solo. It seemed convincing to me, so I told him that I was 13 and I had been riding for 4 years and whatnot. Now that i found this site…I’m very scared. I emailed him back telling him I am discontinuing emailing him because I have found it to be a scam. The pictures he sent me did not make sense…as the pictures of SOLO that he sent me were of two totally different horses, and I googled “Friesian Gelding Horses” and found over 7 different ads with the same picture, but different horses’ names. When I told him about my experience with riding he didn’t respond to anything I said, he just replied with the shipping costs and that the horses could stand on their back legs and liked apples…I knew this was way too good to be true. No one gives away Friesian geldings for free. Someone please report this guy. I’m scared.

Just checked back to let you all know what people have to gain from this, there are several ways to scam us, top one being they want to ship the horse for you and that is the only cost they charge, to make it more legit, you pay the shipping company directley, my quote was for 1300 dollars to be wired to this company, its a fraudulent shipping company, so if you fall for that one they got ya, if you insist on picking the horse up, they immediatley need money wired somewhere for vet bills my qoute 770.00, when i said i wouldn’t wire money to uk, they set it up for US. I mess with these particular people now because they like to waste our time and emotions. I have been making fake emails and inquiring about this same horse and letting it go on and on and hear there ridiculous tactics, the latest the horse was there sons who was killed in a car accident a few monthes back and the horse brings back terrible memories so they just have to get rid of him, they will say anything, i had these one people going that i was gonna meet em and all her sister had a brain tumor and was going into surgery. Well after a bout 10 days i finally had to let the cat out of the bag and wrote i wired the money to Kissmiahass Supermarket. They wrote back ” I do not understand what was the 10 diget number” so i wrote back a wacky number and said “do you understand this KISSMIAHASS SUPERMARKET, i hope you enjoyed wasting my time as much as i did yours, its been fun, hope you know i have over 200 addys that i plan on using to waste your time and recoures.” They actually wrote me back saying sorry and they found me to be very funny and interesting and was hoping to be freinds. So if you have free time, i think its worth doing plus i have aquired several different email addys that i have reported. And it makes you feel better about the time they outsmarted me and i thought i was goin to get this horse. They have plenty to gain, and not much to lose, just play the maybe sooner or later it won’t be worth there time, they will have to find a new scam. This horse is everywhere people a lot of others are scams too i believe they are the same people.

    Hey Micheal,
Or whoever u really are, do you really think you stand a chance defending yourself, i know you are scammers, and i personally know these pictures right now are for a horse named Jerkins, out of curiosity how many actually wire the money? And who is on this horse? Where did you find pics, i would be mad as heck if you plastered my face all over the internet and everyone knows its a scam. Why don’t you try selling him as a unicorn????? Maybe we’ll fall for that….. talk to you soon or one of the other many names you people go under, but you’ll never know who i am and if iam serious.

William Scott is also trying to scam people regarding the sale of other animals too. He tried to scam me when I responded to a http://www.recycler.com (Ca) ad pertaining to a Siberian husky puppy for sale. He said the puppy was AKC registered and that he was an auditor and had no time to take care of the puppy. This guy wanted $200.00 and said that the puppy he called “Dela” would be shipped to me in an air–conditioned crate and that I only had to cover the flight charge. He sent me an email with payment instructions and a link to a pet transportation site he claimed would be responsible for shipping the puppy to me. I then found out that the site was a bogus site he created a couple of days before he posted the ad. His fake site is at http://www.pettransportinternational.com so beware. I checked the owner of this site and it is registered to a Joesph Hawkman in Sunvyvale Ca. 94088, PO Box 61359, tel +1.5105952002. Which I believe is William Scott or his associates. You can checkout the information at http://whois.domaintools.com/pettransportinternational.com. This guy told me everything from he was an Angel from God doing Gods work and so on… just to try and persuade me into trusting him.. Be very careful out there – this guy will go to all extremes to get your money…..

Hi, there are similar adverts on itmymarket.com have replied to these people. they are not interested when you say that you will collect the horse. advert is Friesian mare for adoption £350.00 and Strong friesian mare for adoption £150.00 It is interesting to note that they use the same information and pictures on both horses. You can only sell a horse once. Have complained to itsmymarket.com twice but the adverts are still running.

Just came across “Teface” the free Friesian today. After looking into his history, found he had dozens of ads for his sale or adoption all over the world, and here is what his seller had to say:

    “Hello ,

Mike as we call him is an exceptional, beautiful fairy
tale 3rd preemie STER Gelding. He has matured to 16H and exhibits a
lovely personality with beautiful flowing gates due to his compact
build. He was imported from the Netherlands in 2004, and has had one
previous owner who did not ride him. His bloodlines are SUPERB (all
Ster, Pref, or Model): Mother is STER,Grandmother is a STER, and
    Great-Grandmother is a STER. His Sire, FETSE 349 is a 1st Premium
Stallion Training: In Denmark, Mike was schooled to M1 then
imported. In the U.S. he has been schooled in Spanish Riding School
from Jerez, Spain, and classical dressage. Kept in professional
training for the past 4 years under the supervision of his current
owner,Teface scored an average of 66 1st level this summer. His gates
are lovely, and the canter is to die for! He is registered. He been schooled
in Traditional Spanish Riding Techniques, along with some Western training.
He lounges, long lines and has used a serretta. Temperament: Quiet and
accommodating, this trusting horse should be paired with someone who is
willing to bond with him…he connects with the humans who work with him,
even to the surprise of professionals! Really, no vices and a perfect gentleman.
He is safe enough for a beginning rider, and talented enough for the
more advanced.Lovely mover that can do hunter in hand now, but do not
think he will be tall enough to go at a World level in that class this
year. all we need is a loving home that is willing to take care of
him.i need to go and meet my family that is the reason Mike
needs a home.Mike is easy to ride by kids and is of good temperament
he will come with all his tacks..

will wait to answer any of your questions and to know when you intend
to take him home because i will be going to meet my family as soon as we
find a home for him. Teface will make your family proud believe me.

we would also like to know where you are located?”

    Hey all…

These people are really soooooo stupid, they would sue themselves. But anyway, they make people really negative about horses. I wanted a horse so badly and a lady e-mailed me saying she has a horse up for free adoption to the right home. I was really sceptic and thought I can’t trust her. Started asking her the usual questions I ask when people mention a free horse to me, asked for her number, gave her a call, asked directions etc. I found out that it wasn’t a scam after all…And I am sooooo glad right now that I took the time to talk to her after I almost fell into one of this scams. But still, they make people negative and if I didn’t trust my instincts, I would have let this horse slip through my fingers and it would have been a disaster…!! She is the greatest horse ever 🙂 What I am actually trying to say is, don’t jump to conclusions and accuse anyone before you are sure of your facts. Some people really just want to find good homes for their horses and really doesn’t want to con you. I know most people do, but not all. So ask them all the questions, mention that you want to try the horse before you take it…. Who knows?? There is horses out there for all of us!!!

Beware of a scam artist posing as Steven Hudson.
    His e-mail address was stevenhudson7@gmail.com
He advertised on Horsetophia, to give a way 2 9 yr old Friesian horses, Rosy & Ryan.
They were originally free in the ad, but then I was to pay $4,000 for shipping.
The ad was originally in NB but he lived in Houston Texas and was relocating to New York, but I think he was operating and residing in Cameroon.
He was using a shipping company called Rainbow Animal Express. I think this was his own scam company to, one minute I am receiving 2 horses the next a puppy.
The e-mails were endless and on occasions he couldn’t remember if he was Steven Hudson or Steven Brown.

Just be careful when playing with these guys. Don’t make yourself a target.
Lots of poor souls fall for this, and send the money, even over here in Australia. It goes the other way as well when you have something to sell. They want you to pay the shipping, and they will add it to the cost of the item. In my dads case it was his merc, and in my neighbours it was their buying of a motorbike.

He is being sold by a man alledegly in Cork who can’t speak english on the phone, asks you to email him, then runs days after days of sob stories about wife having operation, horse needs good home etc. But when youoffer to go and see the horse and collect him yourself, you are met with silence. He will also send youpictures of the same horse above but in different scenarios that are not IRELAND, either SPain or America (we are a green country)He will then reply about a paper fee needed and his friend can transport. Here is a new one: A Friesian named “Powell” who has schooled up to 2nd level dressage. Does it all including Spanish Walk and a bow. Offered for $1500 from Karen Brian [karen.brian56@yahoo.com]. Upon contacting her, she sent me this elegant description of him and some pictures. She said that she was selling him because she had lost a leg in an accident. I wrote her back saying that I was interested, could I come and see him? She wrote me back and, in very broken English, said that she wanted a deposit to hold him for me, because she had so many other “clients” looking at him. (I think she asked for a deposit because I am located very close to where she said he was, and therefore couldn’t ask for a shipping fee.) When I replied that I was very hesitant to pay a deposit on a horse that I haven’t seen, but that I could come as early as 5 days from then, she responded that I “Just needed to trust her” and that she wouldn’t be available when I wanted to come see the horse (Pretty great, huh?). Sounds like this isn’t even slightly the first time that a scam like this has happened!!

I was recently contacted and sent the same pictures as the middle 3 (woman with red top) I live in the UK and advert was meant to be in Cardiff. e-mail used this time was markmoore1036@yahoo.co.uk
Horse is now called Mark he’s a 16hh 10yrs Friesian gelding in dressage training and can also be driven in harness for £800. E-mail was written in broken English and the story was that his wife passed away a few years ago. The horse was purchased as a companion for his daughter to help her cope but then she died in a car accident a month back. He was told by his doctor to sell the horse as it was making him ‘think’. What sort of person would make up such cruel things? I didn’t know whether to cry or laugh! Most of the e-mail didn’t make sense i.e. look forward to speaking to you soonest. He also put a load of questions on it:

    Where are you located?-

Have you ever had a Friesian Gelding before?-

What is your experience with Friesian Geldings?-

What is your nature of job and hope you will have time to take care of Mark?-

Are you married? If yes do you have kids?-

Do you have a private barn for Mark?-

Why do you need Mark, just for companion or for some other reasons?-

Hope you will give him all the love, attention and also take very good care of Him?-

Do you want to have him transported and delivered over to you?-

How soon do you need to have Mark?-

Do you have a number that we can talk on phone?-

He said his numbers are 07031850970 or 07031802884. Haven’t bothered to try them as neither of them are Cardiff numbers!!!!

HI , I have been looking for a friesian gelding for 5 weeks and when I saw this add asking for £800 i thaught I was finally getting some good luck, however I was then asked to pay 1000 pounds delivery striaght away and the horse would be delivered the next day. Very suspicious since the guy Mark Moore was suposed to care so much for the horse – I could have been a dog food factory for gods sake. Said his daughter had recently died in car accident, wife also died previously which is why he bought horse for daughter. Horrible man – terrible accent – very bad english and hope he gets his come uppance in hell!!! Vile personA horse like this should cost at least £5000 not £800 he then said he would give the horse to me – i just had to pay the delivery – must think my head buttons up the back – vile swine.

    Greetings!

From what I gather, it’s a scam to get you to pay the shipping for a horse you will never receive. And did you notice that the grammar in the emails is atrocious?

Another possibilty is they want all our personal information so they can rob us.

I enquired about a horse and received another email from someone who wanted to give me two horses without knowing where I lived. The shipping charge was $750 from Alaska to NH! I don’t think so – it’s more like $3000.00.

Like the police said: “if it sounds too good to be true, it’s probably a scam.”

Thank you for posting the website: http://www.inpetflight.tk I have sent in an abuse report to have it taken down. Remember, any buyer insisting on Western Union/Money Gram is a scammer, that simple. Any pet or animal being shipped from Cameroon or West Africa is a scam, that simple. If you run across websites from the scammers or phone numbers or email address, please post them as we can keep track of the gang and warn others.

We have lived with him all our lives and letting him go is a very difficult decision that we had to make . This is due to the fact that we have to move since i have just been posted and it is rather unfortunate that we cannot take him along .

That is why my wife and I want to make sure we get him the best of homes before we move .
We are not interested in money , all we want is a secured loving and caring home for Gabriel.

In that light , we are putting him out on an adoption price of $1000 and we are willing to consider offers on the price . That price will include making the transfer of ownership documents and his delivery fee to you if you will not to able to come and pick him up personally .

If you can guarantee us that you will give him all the love and attention that he deserves , then we will give him to you .

We will be thrilled if you can come ride Gabriel before taking him . If for any reason you cannot come here to get him , we will equally be happy to get him delivered to your home if you promise us love and care for Gabriel .

If you are fine with this so far then get back to us with the answers to the following

    Are you Married ?
    Full names ?
    Phone number?
Have you ever had a horse before ?
Do you have a Barn or a stable for him ?
    Do you have kids ?
    How old are you ?
How soon do you need him ?

Do not bother about the questions , we just want to be sure that we are not missing a home for Gabriel . We also want to get to know the person who will be taking our lovely Gabriel .
Feel free to ask your questions if you do have any and remember to reply promptly .

    Thanks

I found on horsetopia.com the same kind of add. I was so interested, then I noticed it was not the same horse in the pictures, so I googled it and found the same pictures and other ads for the “same horse” that had all different information. The horses name was lucky and he was 7 years old/16.3hh and then the other ads were way off like 4 yeard and 15.2 hh. I confronted her and asked her about everything and she never replied. WATCH OUT FOR SCAMMERS,

I have also come into contact with scammers like these! 2 as far as I can tell from the info given here. First I got an email after an inquiry from ashleybens@live.com, who advertised her horse(without mentioning a name)who said in the ad their name was Jenny but replied with the name ashley. In the email they said the horse’s name was Jag. They also said they had “left the states last night for Africa, In Cameroon” so we would need to give our address, exact location, etc.Offering to sell him to us for only $1500 since he was coming with “all his tacks.” Here’s the list of questions they asked me:

1.. have you ever had a friesian gelding?
    2..Do you have other horses?
    3. can you take care of the feeding of Jag?
4 do you ride so ofter>
5 Are you a good and not a hash rider?
    6 where are you located?

    —–
    The 2nd scam:

    The teface scam.
    From email address simonsdolly92@gmail.com

This one was from equinehits.com. They also asked me wierd questions when I had just inquired about the horse’s abilities with no answers to my own questions but they were wanting to know more about my location than anything else. This person also told me this friesian was a STER out of FETSE 349. How unbelieveable. Their story was that they had “an urgent call in Haiti.”
    ———

    3rd scam:

    Sent by email: fiona_jerry@yahoo.com
Like many others, you inquire about a horse and by the second email, after you have asked unanswered questions, the seller is talking about paying for shipping! This seems to be the same scam as other witnessed about the “trail horse deluxe.” Here’s a bit of what the 1st email said, the same wording as other scams mentioned above!:

“hanks for the mail and interest on my friesian gelding . Max
is 16.1 hands and he is 7 years old . He will come with all health papers and
one year health guarantee. this gelding {Max} is not only beautiful, he is
healthy , great, sane, trail horse deluxe! . He has
awesome four beat gaits. He will also canter if you ask him to. he is not
spooky, forward moving and enjoys trail riding. ”

In the next email I went on to ask again about jumping abilities and got no response to my own questions, just wanting to know about the shipping charges.
This has been quite disappointing and scandalous to me because this is my first time to buy a horse and my search has not been very pleasing.:( x10

    subject Tango!!!!!!!!! Friesian Gelding

    Greetings

Thanks for the mail and interest on my friesian gelding . I have just one left . His name is Tango .He will come with all health papers and one year health guarantee. this gelding {Tango} is not only beautiful, completely healthy and sound, great, sane, trail horse deluxe! has awesome four beat gaits.I am taking my horse off the market as a riding horse as i do not have a rider for him since i was involved in a car accident with my husband and both of us can’t ride anymore , therefore i am unable to take video’s of him being ridden .; This super gelding has the most amazing paces. His walk is huge with a great over track. His trot is off the floor, uphill, floating & extremely big. he has a fab canter which is powered from behind. Tango has lovely temperament. he is good in all respects. he will travel in a trailer or lorry & is happy to stand in the box munching hay at shows. he will hack out alone & in company. he is very forward when hacking so wouldn`t be suitable for a novice. he has been cantered in open spaces & is very well behaved. When hacking alone he has a good imagination but is not silly with it. Tango has been lightly competed. Judges love him.. he always gets fab comments like super paces (normally receiving 8`s). he is how ever rusty on Half pass as i am
not sure how to do this. he has an amazing medium trot as well. Recently a friend had started training him in changes, he would still need more training to perfect this but looked like he would pick this up with ease. he has had regular coaching with a friend who is a class 2 dressage judge. Tango can jump, but this is not my thing so he could do with further education on this subject.

Before i brought him home from Holland when he was 2, he was professionally trained & was put through his gelding performance with super results. he scored the following; WALK 8. TROT 7. CANTER 7. RIDABILITY 7 & 8. JUMPING2 X 7. he has full pink papers & is branded.

My Wife was an experienced beginner and he really enjoyed riding him where as I am an experienced rider and also enjoy riding Tango . So therefore, I am sure that it will be great for just about any riding level from experienced beginner on up the scale. I also know that Tango would make a fantastic field trial horse if someone was interested in him for that because Tango has great endurance and
listens so well. I want Tango to find a great home and will only sell to such a home. Also, Tango is fine with other horses or without them .He has lived in a boarding situation before and did just as well as he does in a private home situation .up to date on vaccines and dental care . I don’t know what else I can say about Tango other than if you are looking for a horse that will be the same everyday and bring you hours of enjoyment whether out on the trail or in the pasture then, it might be the horse for you! I thought I would go ahead and post him so that somebody could start enjoying him .Before i let you have the
gelding i will like to know the following

Have you ever had a horse before ??
    Do you own a Ranch??
Are you an experienced Rider or a Beginner??
How soon do you need this gelding ??
    Where are you located ??

I am asking all these question so as to make sure that the gelding gets into the hands of some one who will take proper care of the gelding ..Do email me when you shall come to test ride and take the horse along. Tango is for $1800.
Thanks and waiting to read from you

    Hello,
I have been through this twice!! I should’ve known that this was all so good to be true! It’s a good thing my parents knew something was up like….”Why for so low? How come no one else got this horse before I did despite the fact that the ad as been out for a while?” Simons Dolly Dolly was the name of a girl who said she had to go to Haiti for a job and can no longer keep the horse therefore she putting it up for adoption.
*She wanted to ship the horse and have us pay.
*Horse was up for adoption, not for sale.
*Did not give us an address after we asked them to over and over again.
*Said they need Full Name/Address/phone number
Word or advice….if it’s too good to be true, IT’S NOT TRUE!!!!!
They try to convince you in any way, I cried for that person but now I laugh, because they have a life they make it this way and it’s how it is…
DON’T EVER BELIEVE ANYONE WITH A FRIESIAN FOR SUCH A LOW PRICE IT CAN’T BE TRUE!!!!!

I’ve come across this same horse and rider picture with two different sellers in the last day. One called him “Treasure” and the other is calling him “Lino” or aka “Jack”. I’ve already ceased contact with the guy calling him “Treasure” because I compared the photos each seller sent me and noticed it was the same rider but in different times throughout the year. He claimed to be a pastor in Ontario when the ad had been for New Mexico. He said that he thought no one would be interested in the horse if they new he was out of the US. SCAM! First he said his name was Dwealth Scofield then in the next email he said his name was Ken Obi. I’m still currently emailing the one who calls the horse “Jack”. I’m messing around a bit to see how it goes. So far he has sent two emails and neither have contained questions regarding shipping or personal information. Still, I’m warry. Something I’ve noticed as of late is people “selling” friesians in every single state for very low prices. So far the names to look out for are MILEY, LODO, KIMLY, TEX, TREASURE, and several others. If someone is legitimately selling a horse then they will HONESTLY sell the horse in the state of which they are located. I do, however, wonder who the real owner of this horse is. The pictures I have are of a different friesian horse but at the same house. Unless, one picture shows the horse more sun burnt than the ones I have. Regardless, it is the same place with multiple sellers. I can say that if you want a safer mind-set that you are not being scamed then go to equinenow.com because so far I haven’t found any scams on their websight. Someone correct me if I’m wrong. These people seriously need to be put away for their crimes. It is heartless to prey on those who love these magnificent creatures for all that they are.

I finally sent one of the scammers an email telling them to knock off the scam, and of course, I never got a response. If you have any doubt about these people being scammers, you can always tell after you accuse them of scamming because they never email back. If they were a motivated seller with a horse to sell, they would at least respond and try to explain. I hope no one ever gets scammed by these people.

I found a fresian by the name leroy on dream horse. the lady took forever to answer back and when she did gave me a sob storie about how she was in a caracsident and broke hor back and now is in a weel chair. She then sent me pics of leroy and they are the same horse at the top of the page just pasted on another backround. When i started to wonder if the story was tru i asked for a vet of my choosing to go look at him she was fine with that but would not give me the horse’s location. I then asked for a copy of papers and registration number she never gave me that either. I asked her to cll me she said her dad would but never recived a call. After shwoing her this website she told me she was a prat of creating it and that she found others were using her horse’s pics with bad intentions. When i told her i could not take the horse she told me he would have been happy in my home and sent me best wishes and i havent heard from her since!

With all his power/presence, you can take him from the show ring,
right out on to the trail or a parade! Canter departs from a dead
stop, rein backs from your seat! Driving Pro to the extreme
he has had a mind of gold thru his entire training program and his

riding partner even for children not only beginners because of his
tenderness.has been riden by all types of riders .
I had two horses but rinke is left. The reason i am giving out my gelding
is that I have had a traumatic experience since my transfer to work
here in Cameroon and that let to the loss of one of my horses.I had to
move with my two horses on my transfer because i placed an ad to sell
them while back in the united states but no one could buy them at the
price and i had limited time to prepare to travel out and since I had
no one left behind in the states to take care of them i had to travel
with the two horses i had Toby the gelding and kiki the mare the mare that
was killed) .Unfortunately,by keeping the horses on their own with no
body to watch over them while i was at work, the mare was killed by the
indegens here and am shocked that the government doesn’t have
adequate laws that protect and secure animal life.so the mare was
    killed by the indegens and
that has frustrated me so much that i had to update this
ad again so that even if i do not find a buyer i can atleast find
someone to adopt this gelding that is left because
i have not yet recovered from the pain of losing my mare. its been
very disappointing and i cant imagine taking such a heartbreak again,
if anything should happen to Toby the gelding.I am getting a training
program here in Cameroon and my work gives me very limited time even
to ride Toby.i would rather prefer giving him for adoption than
waiting to lose this gelding.the other has been a big loss for me.so
please i will be greatful in getting more assurance with answers to
    the following..
1..Do you have access to health clinic or medical facilities to render
medical care to horses. and do you have other horses..
2..Do you have someone to care for the horse in your absence.
3..What do you want to use this horse for..or if you are a rider what
    level have you attained?
4..Do you have enough for his feeding and upkeep.
5..Can you send me some pictures of your land and barn, that i may know
    where
the horse will possibly stay.i will like it much if you come to
see him so i know i can be more assured in knowing you personally and
entrust him in to your care for him to be given the care he deserves
in a safe environment..I must know if you have experience with
horses.I have done my best to provide the best possible care to this
horse and have had him visit a medical checks several times to ensure
that he is out of vices and has good medical records with negative coggins.
so he is doing well and will be very performant in any discipline
because is very willing and he hardly forgets a lesson. so i am
looking in to it that he gets the best and all the love from any
experienced person who is a horse lover capable of loving and caring
for this horse as one of his or hers.i hope you can see how beautiful
he is in his recent photos .I will be very pleased to get more
    assurance within your reply
i cant afford to keep him here in Cameroon again as i had thought before
    bringing him here .
    Accept my regards

This is what i got, everyone should be very careful!
DONT EVER GIVE PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER EMAIL!!!

Hi,thank you for the interest in my horse Jeanna.I just want to tell
you that he is still available right now.Yes this horse is currently
in US.He trailers well and is good for farrier, vet, etc. He has 2-3
times riding per week but he is ready to go even 5 time per week . He
is regular on his vet and his shots are up to date .He has all his
paper work done. This horse has been trained for trail riding,
show, dressage and is undergoing his 2nd dressage level .He has also
been ridden western and English. He has a gentle personality and will
do well with kids and other house pets.He is good for beginner and
intermediate riders. He is very friendly and playful to them.He is DNA
tested , can take voice command and he does not easily become spoke
and is broke to ride, even a seven year old child can handle him. He is
a good listener to his rider and love to be taken out for a ride.He is
very sound and ok in health , no vices and he has never been ill nor
injured .He has never been affected by any disease due to the fact
that his vaccines are given regularly. If your looking for a dressage
,show or trail gelding , it doesn’t get any better than this.Jeanna is
very much dressage type,an eager student and very willing to work hard
for his rider and also willing to learn . I don’t say these things
lightly as they are not easy things to do but Jeanna is really that
special. He has lots of professional training including clinics with
late Bren Daker. No regret to anyone who is going to have Jeanna . In
fact,he is going to make a perfect family member . I just want to ask
if you have ever owned a horse and for how long? I will a also like to
know where you live so that I can invite you to my place for viewing
and pickup of Jeanna . I will also like to know how soon you will want
to adopt this my horse? I will be waiting to hear from you soon

This is what I have been dealing with – same situation. Same photos I believe. See this email:

    Hey There,

i am sorry for the late reply to your inquiry in regards to the black
friesian gelding seeking a new home.my laptop has been given
me problems. This is to let you know that the horse is still
available.the horse in question is call Rokie and he lives with us.He
has Beautiful conformation, tall perfect quality legs (fully X-Rayed )
    and those typical Friesian looks.
He is call Rokie.Permit me tell you some details about Rokie.was born
on may 2001.Rokie has been worked with from birth and has wonderful
    manners, ground, stable, and saddle.
He has been trail-ridden extensively, and crosses water, covered
bridges, rides alone or with others.Rokie was trained to drive by me
as a 2 years old.he is 15.3HH now and loves taking rides. We are
presently here in OREGON together with Rokie
for a 9 months church project
and we just rented a home here at River Rd S, Salem, OREGON, 97302.
We have plans on staying here for sometime.you are more than welcome
to visit us at any moment.we are a very welcoming family. We are giving
the horse up for adoption because my
17yrs old daughter (Tracey) who was taking care of him passed away
months ago through a car accident when she was on her way back from
her piano classes. So the occupying nature of my job does not permit me
to keep Rokie. Giving Rokie out to another home will be a way of
wiping Tracey’s memories from my head which is making me disturbed
each time i think of her. To adopt him,i will like to know this from
    you.
Why are do you want a horse? Did you always love horses as a child
and now that you are an adult, you want to fulfill your own dream?
Are you the parent of a horse crazy child who has been asking for the
proverbial pony at every gift-giving occasion since the age of 2?
Whatever your reason you wish to adopt Rokie, make sure that you are
    prepared for all
aspects of ownership. Are you prepared to pay the upkeep, which may
include unexpected vet bills? Are you willing to live with limitations
on your time if your boarding facility requires you to do stall
cleaning? If you want to keep the horse at home, are you prepared
for even more time limitations and the extra hassle of finding
    qualified help to take care
of the horse while you are away?. The amount of time you have
    available to spend on horse
activities should also be examined. If your time is limited to only
    1-2 times a week for a
few hours. These are questions that only you can answer for yourself.
    It is vital that you
go into this process of adopting Rokie with your eyes open to all
    aspects of horse ownership
If you have decided that yes, you and your family have the time and
economic resources for a horse like Rokie.
Ok, now you know why you want Rokie, what you want to do with him and
how much you want to spend?another vital resource is having
veterinarian. It is almost always a good idea to have a
horse vet checked before you take it. This is no guarantee that the
    horse has no medical
problems, but can reduce the chance that you will be stuck with an
unsound horse..If you have any more questions to ask, just
let me know.will also like to know when you will like to have him.
attached to this mail are the pics of the horse. He
Do have a nice day and get back to me at your Convenience.
if i have to arrange for transportation
he will be safe as he will come along with people who
will take great care of him as he gets to your
home , he will just be so comfortable and we both have to work out
this. You are to pay just $700 which is for transfer of ownership document and transportation to your location..
the horse was given to us free by our family friend rev matt demont
and we promise him we shall give
Rokie free to another home if we decide to part away with him
.anyway just let me know if this is okay with you

a local lady purchsed this horse and had a very ancient and dead lame QH delivered to her door. horse was also purchased by 2 others one of whom decided to give the poor horse a home – all 3 paid $5000 plus shipping.
FBI looking into this large “horse scam cartel” who operate interstate, Interesting that the horse is now “free” and the shipping and registration combined cost less than shipping alone should cost. If it sounds too good to be true … it probably is

I’m from South Africa and lost my horse due to a freak accident! I saw the ad for the adoption for a friesian horse and could not believe my luck. The “owner” e-mail me and said the horse was situated in Botswana and the registration and transport wil be ZAR 1,500. I also had a e-mail from the transport company to arrange the delivery. Is there a way to find out if this also is a scam? The shipping company claims to be from USA. They claim to transport horses from North East REgion of USA. The name is Equine Shippers Transport Agency. The owner is “Corie Marshall”. The Company’s physical address in Botswana is Export Street Branch, Douala, Littoral Region, Cameroon.

Hi I replied to a guy who was from Lansing,MI and had a Freisian mare named Scot. In his reply he said that the horse (“Rex”)was a gelding currently in Kansas for a “program” and that he would send him to me for $800 which was for delivery. I felt this was fishy and did some online research – typed the horse’s name into google and this web page came up. It was funny, but he sent the same reply to another person with a different horse name “Rokie”, and so I know it was a scam now. I am appreciative to the people who posted comments to this page becuase it saved me from getting scammed!

    Thank You!

I saw the ad this morning, and as soon as I got the email response I was suspicious. Did some googling and found this wonderful site.

I found the ad on wikihorseworld. Here is the link:

    http://www.wikihorseworld.com/classifieds/horse/ea50aff8/2009/Pure_black_friesian_gelding_for_sale.htm

They are calling it “Rokie”, and the location has changed from PA to Oregon. The email they sent me stuff from is donaldmcrolland@hotmail.com

I’m not going to post the email they sent me (because it is already on the site), but they are using a sob story of her daughter being killed in an accident, and saying that they are working on a “church project” right now.

Please beware! I didn’t give them any information because I was suspicious, but I would hate for a genuine horse lover to be out money because of these jerks.

    Thanks for posting this stuff!
