A look at horses with lacing around the world and in a variety of different breeds.
Also called giraffe markings, marble, cobweb, lace or catbacked, the cause of this patterning is unknown. There is speculation it could be from a fungal infection called rain rot, a blood disorder or could be associated with appaloosas or pintos. Like many markings, can appear and develop over time. The examples below show a variety of lacing and some of them can easily be explained by a sabino pattern, others are just strange.
