A look at horses with aging markings around the world and on a variety of different breeds.
Like people, some horses will begin to grey in some spots as they grow old. This is not likely related to any type of white patterns and it seems to affect animals of all types. An older animal is generally quite obvious to a horse person and perhaps the slight greying is part of that. This usually occurs on around the eyes and on the forehead, sometimes causing bleeding or roaning of white face markings. One of the examples below is clearly an older animal which has roaning on the body as well, that may be due to a white pattern.
