A look at seasonal black horses around the world and on a variety of different breeds.
Most black horses are of the fading black variety, but some animals tend to change seasonally (perhaps because of or to protect from sun exposure). Their coat can turn an almost reddish brown color during one season (usually summertime) and then shed out to become pure black again. It should be noted that a true black horse has no red hairs on its body, but when black hairs fade they take a reddish tinge. Seasonal blacks are often born a smoky color and sometimes as light as dark bay or brown.
