This video celebrates teamwork in style. Herve Godignon and his amazing mount Calypso work some serious magic on these jumps. This is by far one of the coolest and most elaborate jumper courses I’ve ever seen and the round couldn’t be more brilliant.
Definitely worth a watch – you’ll be inspired.

Last weeks video was all about fitting a saddle so it only seems appropriate that this week we round it out by discussing how to fit a bridle.
It is important that all tack you use fits your horse properly, ill-fitting equipment can cause a number of problems – many of which keep you out of the saddle. Be sure to brush up on your bridle terminology so you know your subject matter first.

A lot of people probably don’t even know that they should fit a saddle to their horses back, much less how to do it. But it’s an important part of horse ownership because an ill-fitting saddle combined with the weight of you in it can cause a whole host of problems for your horse.

I thought this video was kind of fun and who doesn’t enjoy a nice English accent voice over? It may only be useful for those who intend to be circus clowns (don’t do it), but it could be a handy party trick.
The instructions are simple and look easy enough to follow and the demonstrator is full of enthusiasm. Enjoy.

Some truly amazing imagery of horses that is quite different from most of the horse pictures you see out there today. A dash of the unusual and a little biology thrown in and you have some truly spectacular images of the equine animal.

Learn a little about zebras and how their stripes are more than just a lovely fur coat – they have many purposes beyond just camouflage. This is a really interesting clip and well worth waiting through the ad for. I’m pretty sure I like zebras even more now.

It’s interesting to learn words in different languages, and sign language is no exception. I know a bit of ASL and, believe it or not, that has come in handy from time to time.
I encourage everyone to learn the basic alphabet in both American Sign Language and British Sign Language (hey you never know when you’ll need it). They are very different from one another.
The first video below was just too cute to pass up. He is 2 and his mom is deaf – let him teach you how to sign some common animals. (If his horse isn’t clear enough for you, try this horse example for clarification). The second shows common animals in BSL – by a more experienced teacher.

The addition of Riding Aside to my RSS collection got me to thinking about riding sidesaddle and why it scares me so. It just seems so strange to sit on a horse and not actually be astride it.
I think it looks very pretty, but don’t imagine I will be trying it anytime soon. Thankfully now I can read all about it.
Riding sidesaddle may be one thing, but jumping is another thing entirely. Instantly the idea gives me the jitters, simply because balance is an essential element in jumping. And how can both legs on one side truly be balanced?
The part of me that always wonders if I remembered to tighten the girth just won’t allow me to try it.
A quick video with handy tips for keeping your horse happy and healthy. All narrated by a lovely British accent which is authoritative enough to make you want to pay attention.
