This video shows the preparation for and running of a traditional horse race in Sardinia, Italy the Sa Carrela è Nanti which is run on the last days of Carnival season.
The Story
This is an even that spans several days and riders are judged on their horsemanship, poise and the state of their animal & tack. Each rider is responsible for their mount. The race starts at the top of a long hill and runs down narrow village roads & the riders run down two at a time.

The Second Day
Traditionally on the second day of running there was some decapitation of chickens with a sword at a dead run involved. But thankfully in the interest of taste live chickens are not used these days.
