Intro
Also know as the Hausa Horse, Sulebawa horses are raised by the Hausa tribe, which seems to be responsible for a large percentage of the known horse breeding in Nigeria today. The Sulebawa Horse is also known as the Hausa Horse, but as they raise the majority of the horseflesh in the country, several of the breeds are attributed to them.
Origins
Sulebawa horses were among the four breeds identified in the 2016 study on Nigerian horse genetics, so they are distinct genetically from the West African Dongola. The Nigerian government doesn’t keep official studbooks and breeding programs are highly localized among the tribes that use them. This means reliable information is limited to what can be found online.
