Intro
Like most saddle or sport type ponies, the Luxembourgish Saddle Pony is bred and registered based on temperament, athletic ability and performance rather than the bloodlines of a specific breed.
Origins
The stud book for Luxembourg Riding Horses was founded in 1958 and is the oldest of its kind in the country. Their goal was to promote breeding of good riding horses. A few years later small horses and ponies were allowed to be registered as well, including a strain of the Haflinger.
