Luxembourgish Riding Horse

Intro

Like many riding and sport type breeds, the Luxembourgish Riding Horse is bred or registered based on temperament, athletic ability and performance, rather than for specific breed bloodlines.

Origins

In 1958 a centralized stud book was established to promote the breeding of riding horses using carefully selected animals from Germany and France (both known for find riding/sport horses). A few years later the Luxembourgish Saddle Pony was created to add ponies in the registry (including a strain of Haflinger).
