Intro
The Hispano-Bretón or Breto Cerda is named for the breeds involved in its foundation, local Spanish mares and handsome French Breton horses. This breed is bred in the Catalonian Pyrenees mountains.
Origins
The original crosses for this breed were produced in the Cantabrian Cornice and the mountainous areas of Castile and Leon. Like most of the draft breeds raised in the mountainous areas of Spain, the Hispano-Bretón Horse is bred primarily for meat. Brought up in naturally, they live outside year around, in mountain pastures during summer and wintering in natural meadows at lower altitudes.
