Intro
The Dagestanskii or Dagestan Pony is a hardy mountain horse found in Dagestan which comes in three different varieties, Kalmyk (the largest) Avar (the smalest) and Lezkin (from the south).
Origins
All of the strains are known for the stamina, resilience and robust nature found in many mountain horse types. Used for a variety of reasons, they are still very much an important part of life in remote areas where access is more difficult.
