Intro
A variety of different bloodlines may be registered as American Warmblood horses. Like the warmbloods of other countries, they are required to be of sport horse or warmblood type & meet specific studbook requirements.
Origins
Like most warmblood breeds, the American Warmblood was developed as an athletic sport horse. There are two registries who recognize this type breed, the American Warmblood Society & the American Warmblood Registry – both are recognized by the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses. Horses in these registries are registered on the basis of type rather than preserving specific bloodlines, the objective being to breed superior sport horses.
