Chinese Horse Art

Chinese Horse ArtI read somewhere that there are more horses in China than in any other country. Which makes sense when you consider how many people live there, and the fact that many of the Chinese breeds are very old indeed.

Specific Horse Type

I’ve always appreciated Chinese art and it’s lasting power is undeniable, each piece below manages to convey a great deal of the animal’s personality. It’s interesting to see the stout pony-like build of their horses, which is overly caricatured in some while others are an accurate representation of the animals found in China at the time.

A Very Different Kind of Racing

Racing as it should be, it’s time for the horses to kick up their heels and do the riding for once. This quick ad gives us a look into what that world would be like…a world where jockeys carry their horses across the finish line rather than riding them there. I love it!

Trail of Painted Ponies

Click to see VideoLast week I featured the amazing horse artist Cholla creating his very own Painted Pony. This week I thought I’d share a more general view of the Trail of Painted Ponies because it’s a really unique artistic endeavor.

How It All Began

The trail started in Santa Fe, NM as a public art project where artists transformed life sized fiberglass horse statues into works of art. Today they are collectable art pieces that celebrate both the equine animal and the art if storytelling.
