One of the first numbers on any horse owner’s speed dial, the farrier provides an essential service. All horse jobs are physically demanding, but this one is especially so.

Strength & Knowledge

This is a position which benefits from a physical strength, the ability to work with multiple animals and a strong knowledge of horse anatomy. A blacksmith deals with the business end of any horse – their iron-shod feet. There is never enough experience in this line of work.

Strong problem solving skills, an eye for detail and the ability to think on your feet are important building blocks towards a successful career as a blacksmith.

2009 Thermal Desert Circuit - IHITS Thermal Desert Circuit II

The second part of the Thermal Desert Circuit, a series which runs from Jan through March every year. This event is accomodated by one of the biggest hunter/jumper show venues in the United States. The grounds encompass 230 acres and feature 13 outdoor competition rings, and one covered ring.

Shopping & Dining
The festivities are rounded out by a desert marketplace open during the show selling equestrian equipment, clothing and items. Spectators and competitors alike also have a variety of casual dining options.

Showing ranges from classes for novice and experienced riders to Grand Prix show jumping events.

No admission charge.

Part of a 6 week hunter/ jumper horse show circuit held in Arizona every year. The facilities include 5 show rings and multiple schooling rings for hunter, jumper and equitation classes.

These classes range from Grand Prix to show jumping for novice and experienced riders. Spectator seating is available at every ring.

Shopping & Dining
Food and beverage options and a vender courtyard will feature equestrian equipment, apparel and jewelry.

No admission charge Wednesday through Saturday. Sunday admission is $5 per person, children under 12 are free.
