There might be some gypsy breeders that take exception to calling thier horses “Gypsy Vanners”. There is some debate as to what type of horse a vanner refers. It is my understanding the Gypsy horse and Gypsy Vanner is the same, and its more of a registy issue than a breed difference.
Would also be nice to see what the results of the Gypsy World Show were.
Thanks for keeping up this site.
Hi Craig,
I found the results from the show and they are above.
Good point about the Vanners, I imagine they were bred for necessity (and nomads) in the beginning – so chances are bloodlines may not have been kept strictly pure.
Thanks for your comment. 🙂
To clarify for you the term “vanner.” In the USA it is referring to a registery only. The Gypsy Horse, Gypsy Cob, Gypsy Vanner are all the same breed.
In the UK, the term “vanner” is actually a deragatory remark and an insult to the horse. The UK vanner is a horse of lesser quality.

Thanks for the clarification Tracy, this is great information to know.
I have been informed that this show is strictly for the “Gypsy Horse Registry of America” (GHR), purposely excluding three other registries of Gypsy Horses…. so this could hardly be considered a “Gypsy World Show”
