Hardly Paupers – Horse Image of the Week

The French seemed to have captured the art of equine photography very early on, this image was taken late in the 19th century. We only know it was taken after 1870.

Why We Like It

We don’t know much about this image other than it was taken in France and that their clothes are absolutely stunning. This is clearly a fine example of a beautiful team of horses (are those Norman Cobs?) and that handsome carriage is spotless. It looks like there are extra seats in the back for the two footmen and with all of those ladies up top, we just wonder who is inside…
