Why We Like Them

During the civil war the generals were quite fond of their horses, which makes sense because the animal was essentially their partner. It seems General Joseph Hooker was proud of all of his horses and wanted posterity to appreciate them too. We have to add that it looks like the general was a very sombre man and clearly he felt he had a ‘good side’. At least he seemed to take his job seriously.
