Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There

Today’s bit of horse isn’t actually a poem, but I thought it belonged anyway. It’s an excerpt from Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There written by Lewis Carroll in 1871.

Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There

“Whenever the horse stopped (which it did very often), he fell off in front; and, whenever it went on again (which it generally did rather suddenly), he fell off behind. Otherwise he kept on pretty well, except that he had a habit of now and then falling off sideways; and, as he generally did this on the side on which Alice was walking, she soon found that it was the best plan not to walk quite close to the horse.”

Cool Illustration!

If you like the image above, I’ve added a larger size here for anyone who wants to print and color. For some actual horse poetry, be sure to check out the horse poetry section.
