As we update the site, our breeds section has already had a major overhaul and we are still adding new information, images and videos for each breed. Today we wanted to share the brand new breeds from Albania category, including nine new breeds.
Traditional Not Official
There is not a lot of official information about horses in Albania, however we do know that there are two types used and bred there. Fires, a mountain horse, which are generally smaller, stockier, made robust by tough mountain terrain and poor fodder. Second, a plains horse which is taller, lighter, faster and used for riding or pulling carts. As breeding is either left natural or managed at a small level, the genetics are mixed. Most horses in Albania are called Comune or Common horses
