It was difficult to find much information about horses in Belize.
There was some information about horse racing traditions established early in the 20th century. However, these traditions stem from the people who came to Belize rather than those who are native there.
Horse in Spanish is caballo

i love wat u guys r doing we need more pics like those. i recommend u atttend a horse race in orangewalk where the 6-9yrs olds engage in racing these little horses. I race half milers preferably appendix breeds.(quarter= arabian,Quarte=thoroughbred) big fan of these kids and their horses. They kept wat started the sport here ALIVE
why horse race??
My father “William (Bill) Rudan was a local jockey and citrus farmer. who raced in places like Never Delay, Cayo and Stann Creek Town, now Dangriga. His horses were Little George, I am not too sure but there was also a horse called Bitch Lick, lol. The older people in Stann Creek remembers my dad as a jockey. Please reply, if you are one of those people. I am the youngest of 10 girls and was too young to have seen him racing. He died in 1968.
He also rode the Govenor’s horses around the late 1920- early 1930
