It’s a sad fact of our modern world that animal species must pay the ultimate price to make way for our urban sprawl. Civilization was built on the back of the equine species and many of them carry low numbers.
To help combat that I’ve been posting about rare horse & pony breeds of the world to help draw attention to their contribution & the efforts to save them. Some breeds are better suited to jumping competition than others, and in the trendy & faced paced world of show jumping breeds come & they go. 
There are a lot of animals out there that carry low numbers and while I am concerned about them all, it’s the horse & pony breeds I worry about the most.
Ponies have long been a big part of agricultural communities because they don’t eat too much and they tend to be hardy and strong.
Sadly there is a great big variety of horse breeds that are considered rare – some in more danger than others. In the spirit of educating the public, I’m hoping to share as many of them as I can & spread awareness. 
There are way too many of these rare breeds, many that started out with small numbers may be the worst hit. Sadly much of the decline in horse breeds is simply because they’ve ‘outlived their usefulness’.
Sadly there are a wide variety of rare breeds in the modern world of today. Many of them simply outliving their usefulness (poor drafts) and often they were rare to begin with.
