Torian Horse

Intro

A variation of the Estonian Tori horse, the Torijska or Torian bred in Ukraine since the mid 20th century.

Origins

This breed is a combination of local Estonian horses with Western sport types. The most success was found crossing Torian mares crossed with Trakehner stallions. Compared to some of the other European drafts they can carry very heavy loads for their size. The heavy sport breeds contribute some height without sacrificing robustness. There are three types found within the breed, massive, light and basic.

According to the DAD-IS they are critical and as of 2022 there were only 36 left.
