Intro
Also called Chenaran, the Tchenarani horse is thought to date back 2000 years and was developed in Iran by crossing Persian Arabians and Turkomans. This is an incredibly rare breed and the few pure animals remain in Iran.
Origins
Heftier than the Arabian found in Iran, this breed was originally developed as a warhorse. They required a strong animal that was larger and sturdier. The two bloodlines complimented each other and the breed managed to last after mechanization made them obsolete for war. Today they are used for riding and sometimes racing.
