Noma Horse

Intro

The Noma Horse comes fro Noma County in the Aichi Prefecture of Japan, they are the smallest pony native to the Japanese Islands.

Origins

These little ponies originated in the 17th century and come from Mongolian stock, they were used by the local people as pack animals on the steep hills of surrounding islands. The people of Noma county bred their ponies continuously pure to preserve bloodlines and in 1978 the Noma Pony Preservation Society was formed to preserve and promote the breed. Despite preservation efforts, their numbers are very low.
