Intro
Almost every Central of South American country breeds their own specific strain of the hardy Criollo bloodlines.
Origins
Descendants of animals brought over during Spanish exploration, the term criollo loosely means born in the Americas, but of Spanish Colonial descent. The strains vary from country to country based on a variety of factors. In Bolivia, there are two strains, bred for very different environments. The Crillo Antiplanico bred high in the mountains and the Criollo Oriental bred in tropical lowlands.
This Criollo offshoot is a hardy type, but tend to be slightly taller and lighter than their mountain counterparts. Shaped by grasslands with plentiful food and flat footing, this type might tend to be more refined overall.
