Bourbonnais Horse

Intro

The Bourbonnais Horse is not strictly a breed, but rather a variety of Percheron that was bred in Allier, central France. They were later absorbed into the Percheron studbook in 1966. Essentially breeding them into extinction.

Origins

Their studbook was established in 1908 and in 1966 when the Percheron population was declining, this breed and a variety of other draft types with good characteristics were absorbed to bolster numbers. While they are officially extinct, their bloodlines seem to still be around to some degree.
