The main goal of American Spotted Paso breeders is to create an animal with the beautiful pinto color patterns and the smooth easy to ride gaits of the Peruvian Paso.
Perfect Mix
An ideal mix retains 75% of the paso blood while continuing to keep the spotted genetics in the mix. Although different registries have been developed to accommodate different degrees of Paso blood, to register with any of them the animal must have at least one pure Paso parent.
Even Flashier
A multicolored coat gives these animals an even flashier look to go with their high energy level and gaited action.
The horse pictured, though handsome, is tobiano marked. Any studies in natural Peruvian genetic markings?
My Peruvian shows signs of sabino genes. It would make sense to use the marking genetics already in the breed and bring those out and keep the pure or nearly pure Peruvian Paso Horse genetics.
Hi Pamela,
Thanks for the info, I know very little about Peruvian Pasos & it’s limited to online research. Always nice to hear from someone in the know. I’d love to see pics of your Peruvian. 🙂
I love that horse hope you can send more pictures of the breed so I can see more pictures of them thanks bye
I would also like to see more pics of your horse and this breed.
Love your blog – I’m learning so much.
Thanks! 🙂

Hi,
I have a buckskin tennuvian and 3 other peruvians. Love them. I’m looking for a spotted american paso. Must be a black and white or bay and white mare.If anyone out there knows of one please let me know. Thanks, Toni
the tobiano pinto pattern does not exist in the Peruvian Paso breed, there are a few sabinos.
The Paso Fino breed however does have both pinto patterns and are naturally gaited as is the Peruvian Paso.
here is a sabino pinto paso fino
