As I delve into the world of public domain images and art I’m constantly surprised with the sheer amount of horses there are to be found. From the strokes of an artist’s brush to the focus of a photographer’s lens, it seems that the equine animal is never far away.
This is a collection of old black & white horse photography and where I could find dates & descriptions I’ve added them. Each one tells it’s own story (whether it is happy or sad), and the writer in me wants to elaborate on each one.
So Many Black & Whites
In the interest of saving your browser, I separated them into several parts – my collecting has a tendency to go overboard. Stay tuned for future pics.
I loved the old photos. I was born in 1940 and my dad lived in Galeton, PA in the early 1900s. He saw the first car, and horse drawn vehicles were the norm. I am glad the horses don’t have to work like that anymore, though. I have written a memoir type book about my 30 years with horses in The Horse That Wouldn’t Trot, soon to be published by Dog Ear Publishing and available from my website: http://www.rosemiller.net
I love what you are doing with and for horses and their lovers!
So glad you like the pics, they were alot of fun to collect. Can’t wait to read your book! 🙂
Paige – These old photographs are so wonderful I am so glad you posted them.
