French Saddle Pony

Intro

The Poney français de selle, Saddlebred Pony or French Saddle Pony is a relatively new breed, created as a high quality riding pony for children that excelled in equine sporting games in 1969.

Origins

This breed comes from a cross between native French pony mares with Arabian, Connemara or Welsh stallions as well as the blood of several larger local breeds.

Average height 12.1 – 14.2 hands

Head is small with straight or slightly convex profile
Eyes are large and lively
Neck is long and shapely
Chest is wide and deep
Shoulder is long and sloping
Legs are strong with clean joints
Hooves are well shaped and tough
